Are any of you on both the rod "implant" and the combined pill?

Hello all!

This could be a long story but few months ago my blood pressure was high each time I saw my GP they decided to take me off the combined pill (I already have implant in my arm its just over a year old). Using two methods have helped my flares remain at bay. When they took me off combined to go onto mini pill my periods came back horrific and I'm getting PMS like symptoms very often (sore boobs, headaches, mood swings, frustration, loss of libido) and bleeding after sex so very low confidence in that way.

I was told to do some blood pressure home readings which I took back and the GP said were slightly low but otherwise healthy and much lower than my GP appointment readings. After they spoke to a higher up GP they are happy for me to go back on combined with my implant. These methods do work for my I finished my masters degree with not many issues and no GP appointments for months.

However, I do feel like both combined and implant is just so many hormones and probably not good for me long term. Even though I have done it before I feel worried about any health ramifications. I wonder if any of you are on two contraceptive methods to help manage endometriosis?

Thank you.

You need to see gynaecologist. The combined pill and the rod both feed endo and encorage it to grow as they have lots of oestrogen. By taking this medicine you may just maks the endo symptoms while it grows ans spreads and gets worse.

The mini pill is the only pill that is not meant to make endo grow, but it often causes lots of bleeding unless it is given at a double dose which will normally stop the bleeding. But it might not be right for you. A decent GP would have referred you to a specialist gynae /and or for an MRI. By doing this they can se how much endo you have, where it is what kind of damage it is doing and whether surgery could help. Go back to your GP and say you need to see a gynae. If you are just left like this masking the pain but not looking into what is wrong you may have big problems further down the line.
