I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago and was put on the Mirena coil to help relieve symptoms and to balance out my hormones. Last week I had my first diagnostic and excision surgery for Endo where they found Endo in my pelvis and around my ovaries. I still have the Mirena coil in place and have tried other birth control like the pill and implant and I am thinking of trying no birth control at all.
I was wondering if anyone here also has both PCOS and ENDO and if they have come off birth control and what their experiences was with it. I understand everyone’s experiences are different but just wanted to get some perspective.
If you have come off birth control, what did you do to regulate and balance your hormones instead. I want to try and find a more natural way of managing my conditions but nervous to go to a doctors about it because I feel like they will dismiss me and say I should just say on birth control.
Thank youuuu 💛🩵

hi Phoebe I don’t have pcso but I have endo. Where you told if you need further surgery or wheather it was all taken out? Why I say this is because the coil can stop endo getting worse. As I have deep infiltrated endo I think when I had my coil when I was in twenties as every single moth was at the docs for the extreme pain and not being able to walk bent over and everything stopped me in my tracks pain so severe felt my insides being ripped apart. It got to the point the out of hours doc was like if you have the coil he said I’m not saying whether it will help you or not but it may stop the pain and rhe really heavy bleeding and clots and things . Sometimes it slows it down. I have been told I will need hormone treatment no matter what as they said that as the endo is bad it will like balance my hormone out. I could t take the pill as the pill was like I wasn’t taking anything tried memofeniac acid and transanic acid it helped a tiny bit but not much . As you are still young I think it’s totally up to you they don’t usually give the coil for ladies who haven’t had kids and they are young as it could perforate the womb I think I was about mid twenties but I had to have something as I would t have been able to function each monthly . It at the end of day is your choice but don’t feel pressured to do something if you don’t want to . If it has helped with pain and bleeding I would recommend keeping but if your thinking of having a family I would be careful I think you need to do what’s right for you and your needs. Could you not talk to your mum or a friend or auntie. It is a big decision as my sister is younger than me but as her husband a doctor my sister said they don’t normally like giving coils to people as there is a small percent it could affect the womb but I think if it’s more a medical reason then they recomemd different treatments. The endo nurse specialist recommend I still have the coil but I’m a lot older than yourself but it’s good you are asking peoples perspectives xx take care
Thank you!! I’ve had the coil since October 2021. I don’t see any difference in regards to my periods as they have been extremely irregular anyway before the Coil where I usually bleed for around a month and then nothing for a few months and that has been the same. In regard of pain I think it has made it maybe slightly worse. It’s so difficult determine what’s good for me, helping the pcos and endo all at the same time. I think my best bet is to speak to the doctors and express my concerns and see what advice they would give. Xx
Yes I do agree 👍 Phoebe my periods were irregular when I first started them I have one then maybe two months down the line but around that time I suffered with anorexia as well xxx
