Unreal letter from the hospital!

Sorry for the rant but I can't believe what came through the post.I've been on the referral list to a new gynaecology in my new area for 17 months and when I opened the letter I got excited thinking it was my 'new' initial meeting to see what they would do with my private mri results to move on my care plan. I've been waiting to hear if they'll give me physiotherapy or mental health care or pain management... just something! And all the letter says is 'we are aware you are an out patient in this department. If you wish to stay on our list you must phone the number in the next 14 days. Has anybody else had this letter recently?

I haven't even been seen once yet. I have paid 3 times for urgent healthcare in this last 10 months between the 8th of December and September.

I don't know if I'm going to be able to be civil making this phonecall.

Sorry for the rant. I just get so scared when I'm in this house alone and I suddenly can't walk or even lie straight out while I start bleeding ferociously unexpectedly.

It's like when you ladies say 'it takes my breath away. There's nothing I can do. It's not normal'

Hi there, from my experience, that letter sounds like good news. I received a similar letter & I let the hospital know that I wanted to stay on the list. From then on in, everything moved pretty quickly. I had opted for surgery and I was called for a pre-op & then a laparoscopy within weeks. Fingers crossed it’s positive news for you too! x 🤞

I had a similar letter, and replied to confirm I still wanted treatment. My surgery date came through not long after. They’re just trying everything they can to reduce waiting lists. It’s understandable - there must be some people who change their minds and don’t bother letting them know.

I would definitely call them and let them know you still want to be seen. Hopefully it’ll speed up the process for you as well. Best of luck! I hope they see you soon and find some way to help you x

Thanks. I did call. The wrong phone number and extension were on the letter. I got the correct one from the switch board after being on hold for 20 minutes.

Bloody ridiculous! This is why people are losing faith in the NHS. It shouldn’t take 20 mins to get the right department and the wrong number shouldn’t be on the letter. This is why so many go private if they can x
