coming off prostap

hi

i had a Prostap injection 7 weeks ago for a pre op (which I didn’t have) I really did t get on well with it. Very very depressed mood and terrible anxiety, insomnia and crushing headaches. Also lost my appetite. I’ve never felt so poorly before it was scary. Especially the mental health side of symptoms and how quickly they developed.

I wasn’t told this is what the injection does. I was told it softens things up for an ablation. My hospital has since said it stops working in your system between 5-6 weeks but they didn’t say anything else. I’ve been offered no add back hrt etc.

the headaches have stopped and low mood has lifted (not 100%) but I’m still struggling with anxiety (I have had anxiety on and off before but not like this) and my sleep is still terrible and the anxiety doesnt help with the sleeping issue.

can anyone tell me how long it takes for the injections to come out of your system and if you felt anything similar how long did it take you to feel back to yourself.

Poor you, that sounds horrible. How are you feeling now? I don't know the answer, as I'm on zoladex rather than prostap (though it is a similar medication with similar side-effects), but hopefully it will continue to gradually wear off. Hormones shouldn't make permanent changes in your body, so hopefully you should go back to feeling like yourself again within the next few weeks and you can consider the treatment options with a clear head. Let us know how it goes!
