Hi, I am unsure where to start off trying to get a diagnosis of endometriosis. I've been struggling for about 4 years now and have found out my gran and my mum both have endometriosis with them experiencing the same symptoms. All my symptoms line up with others that have endometriosis as well.
My first appointment with a doctor was when I was 16, I listed all the symptoms I faced and was given mefenamic acid which I tried and didn't help a bit. I felt like nobody would take my pain seriously due to my age and told 'it would get better with age' and it hasn't.
I took matters into my own hands and got onto the pill, the pill was effective for a few months but progressively got worse, clots were bigger than I had seen before and was concerned.
I went off the pill and got onto the implant but it seems to be getting more like the pill on the effectiveness side.
I'm unsure of what to do because no normal painkillers word and neither did the mefenamic acid or contraception. I'm scared doctors won't take me seriously as I am still young (18) but I don't want to be infertile when I'm trying to conceive later in life and also don't want to live in pain anymore.
If someone could help me, I'd appreciate you so much💞

Hey, that sounds aweful but I know you will find your answers, don’t give up. I would say try with another doctor and also there will be local groups you can join to give you guidance in your area and which healthcare professionals might be able to help you? For example in my area there is an ‘endo warriors’ group that always has guidance on the best ways to get help.
I will also say changing my diet has really helped my pain level, Have a look online for guidance on cutting back certain items that might help you, gluten for example. Worth trying this in parallel.
Hang in there. Some of the fab members here may also have some tips
I understand how you feel, and I have experienced multiple GPs who have taken me with varying levels of seriousness. Is there any chance you could talk to another doctor?
Might it be worth recording your symptoms and how they link to your cycle so you have something concrete to show GP.
I'm struggling with pain management too and have been recommended the coil many times. I'm still deliberating, but might it be worth a try for you? Also try hot water bottle, tens machine, heat pads, etc, for short term.
I'm sure you'll get there, as soon as one medical professional takes you seriously it's a lot easier. Good luck!
