Caudal epidural

I had a caudal epidural yesterday as a stop gap to help with pain while waiting for a date for my third laparoscopy.

The epidural was done with sedation, and I have to say that the immediate sense of pain relief was amazing as I’d almost forgotten what it feels like to not be in pain! Once the sedation wore off the pain associated with my stomach bloating came straight back. So far the epidural is holding the deeper pain at bay which is great, so I’ll have to see how long it lasts. My pain consultant says that when I see him in a month we can talk about other pain block options which could give more targeted help based on how I react to this one.

Anyone else used pain blocks to help? If so, did you find it helpful? I’d never heard of it being done before, and anyone I mentioned it to initially assumed it was for back pain until I explained it was for endo.

So glad they tried and you found it beneficial.

I got refused by two consultants as my pain is more abdominal and they said too many nerves to contend with.

Mine is too, but my consultant said it’s worth giving it a go anyway!
