HRT / zolodex / hormone treatment help

Hi all.

I posted recently about my concerns regarding zolodex etc. I think my only next steps is a complete hysterectomy due to my issues. HOWEVER. That being said, everyone seems to manage better withHRT and I'm looking to speak with people who have never been able to tolerate any form of hormone treatment (contreception pill, marina coil etc) but have been able to tolerate HRT, I worry about relying on this when I've had nothing but negative side affects from any form of hormone treatment for over 20years (which resulted in sterilisation) has anyone else experienced a positive after negatives 😭

Hi, I woukd be careful going down HRT route if you already know that you don't tolerate hormones well. Everybody responds differently to HRT but for some it's not the silver bullet Davina would have us believe. Do your research. I would have loved a hysterectomy but I'm all fused together with endometriosis. A hysterectomy might give you your life back .

Hi, I asked this recently as am in a similar position & am currently on the waiting list for endo excision & total hysterectomy with ovary removal in a last bid attempt to get some control over my hormones! I'm limited with contraception due to migraines with aura, & progesterone only options cause severe low mood, acne, headaches/migraines & fatigue & I've just had enough. I haven't managed to find much out, except on this post about HRT by Rebecca Mallick (endo specialist in Haywards Heath): instagram.com/reel/Cu6hs4Yp...

Someone else advised asking for a referral to a menopause clinic so I can ask in depth questions, so am currently on the waiting list with no appointment yet, so you could try that too - just ask your GP.

Otherwise I'm waiting to ask my endo consultant at the end of this month, but not really holding out too much hope for any clear answers. Most people have just told me everyone responds differently. But hoping what Rebecca Mallick says holds true!

I’m currently on zoladex with add back HRT while I wait for a hysterectomy. I couldnt tolerate progesterone only hormones, tried the mini pill a couple of times and it made me a complete mess and made the pain even worse. My GP over ruled my consultant to take me off it as I was in such a state. I refused the mirena on that basis. The HRT (tibolone) has been fine for me, nowhere near the issues I had with the mini pill. Just sharing as I was adamant I didn’t want hormones after the mess I was in before but I’ve been ok so far with this.

I didn’t tolerate hormones that well. Had migraines with aura so combined contraception was out. Mirena coil made migraines way too frequent. - like 1-2 a week. I am now on a good combination for hrt - you need to have combined hrt as an endo sufferer. Whether you’ve had a hysterectomy or not. And it’s taken time to find what works for me but I am now on oestrogen gel and progesterone tablet. But I don’t get such frequent migraines and low moods and anxiety and hot flushes and night sweats all under control. So it’s possible but not easy. And I’ve had 3 more ops to clear out endo. But that was more to do with fact that my endo wasn’t excised fully at time of hysterectomy.

Not what you're looking for?
