Biopsy results help

I had my second laparoscopy last month with a specialist endo surgeon in a well regarded endo centre. Afterwards the surgeon came to speak to me. He said he’d removed endometriosis from my bowel surface and the right side of my pelvis, where he’d had to move my ureter to cut endo away, which was lying over it. He said he also removed adhesions in the pouch of Douglas.

Fast forward to last week. My biopsy results from this surgery appear on my hospital app and they say “negative for endometriosis”. How can this be and does it have any bearing on my diagnosis??

It’s made me feel anxious tbh. I’ve been through so much on this journey already. I’m scared I’ll go back to not being taken seriously again based on the histology.

Nobody is free to speak to me about it at the hospital and my follow up appointment isn’t for several weeks. My GP hasn’t and won’t receive a letter until after my appointment. Getting my notes will also take weeks. If there is anyone who has specific knowledge on this, please get in touch xx

Hi! It's hard to say on a case by case basis but sometimes a biopsy is performed just on a certain area to test if endo remains there. It might be they had a specific area to test and that bit was negative. I had the same on my surgery but positive diagnosis of endo because of what was seen / removed during the surgery!

Thank you for getting back to me. Hopefully it ends up in the scenario you describe. 🤞🏼I should be getting answers from them really and not be shown results without a medical professional to talk through them. Unfortunately, as is often the case, I’m left waiting in an anxious state with incomplete information.

Thank you again for your response. It’s much appreciated xx
