so after post a couple of days ago regarding I’ve finally been put on the list for total hysterectomy, I got a phone call from the hospital yesterday. I have a date! 8 weeks time! Quite nervous and not looking forward to the recovery phase ( I don’t do sitting still) but at lest it means no more treatments, no more awful bleeding, no more fear that I could develop cancer, ( family history of womb, cervical and ovary cancer) and a hope of feeling vaguely human for a change, all mixed with an anxiety of having half my insides removed. I can and will do this. 😳

update!
Hi Paddington, l can understand your anxiety of the unknown.
I can only give you my experience as a guide line, age 75 l had heavy post meno bleeding, after some time l eventually had a partial hysterectomy which was not a bad experience l awoke pain free and able to walk to bathroom unaided about 8 hours later. Due to cancer found l had the hysterectomy completed some 10 weeks or so later.
As l say l can only give you my experience, l had a very good attendant nurse in hospital and she told me no questions are to silly if they put your mind at rest.
I will drop by again if you would like some more information or merely a chat, wishing you every good thing.

Hi Alexa
The dreaded envelope confirming my surgery and pre op appointment arrived today. Really nervous but on the other side annoyed as I was going out the 6th of October to a theatre show I’ve waited two years for lol! Oh well never mind next time 😊 Glad all went ok for your op that gives me hope. I am stubborn post op and insist on getting up asap and getting home. After a ruptured ectopic I went home the next day as i stubbornly walked (shuffled) clinging onto the wall in the ward to the furthest bathroom just to prove a point. I had sister behind me saying what are you doing, my reply, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, out my way. An hour later they discharged me! Think I was trouble. I have every intention of being the same this time round aswell, complete trouble 😊
Hiya,
I had a total hysterectomy with ovaries removed 7 weeks ago......for me already it has been life changing.
I can appreciate and know that anxious feeling, but I was very excited too.
I was back in my room by 1pm and up and walking (lightly aided by nurses) by 6pm. Completely pain free for the first time in a very long time and it was instant....I forgot what it was like! For me that has been a little overwhelming but in a very good way so I have had lots of happy tears.
Just do your research around the after regarding hormones poss hrt( as I see you have written about cancers) just make sure you get all the info you need to make an informed choice foe what's best for you.
Good luck, I really hope it goes well for you! Please feel free to message if you want a chat. X
Hi l can understand your frustration with feeling you are unable to do the things you want, but please be patient with yourself.
We are all different l was glad of my 4 days of care and being taught my injection regime, l really hope this is the ultimate answer to your health needs, thinking of you

Good luck and I hope all is well with your surgery and subsequent recovery! For those times its difficult to sit still in hospital and recovery I've really enjoyed doing some needlepoint kits and latch hook pillows, the very easy ones designed for children its the right amount of quiet focus and gives you something for idle hands. Just following the lines and colours I don't think about anything else. It's really helped me in the recovery stage as I'm not feeling as well as I thought I would at this point. Good luck for the days ahead.
