hi l have had a consultation this morning following up on me after surgeries and brachytherapy.

The outcome is they can offer me no more radio, and am to carry on with my normal day to day life!

To anyone out there who is thinking shall l or shall l not get professional guidance with my symptoms my answer is

DO NOT WAIT!

I am 77 and have , after the hospital ditching my first consultant, had amazing treatments, from surgeons, consultants and other health professionals.

It has been a long journey as my first consultant dismissed me as being *unable to cope* with my symptoms of heavy post meno bleeding at the age of 75. Yes 20 years post menopause.

I am not looking for sympathy, l am merely saying, please look to your health and get any helps you need as soon as possible.

Sending you all my thoughts and best wishes. I’m so sorry you were not listened to when needed, unfortunately it seems to be a common topic on here.

Thank you for speaking up to tell others to keep pushing to get help as soon a possible. I wish I had been more forceful in my 20’s and 30’s as I wouldn’t have such damaged insides now.

There seems to be so many silent sufferers out here and it’s not fair. We still live in a man’s world!

It breaks my heart that so many women miss out on a quality life because of the lack of knowledge and care offered to them.

Thank you, maybe it takes an oldie like myself to put this forward. I cannot say l am cancer free as it could migrate anywhere but at least my newest consult has me on her radar and as l said l should get internal checks every 6 to 8 weeks.

Keep flying the flag, l will pop back at some point with latest updates.

Hi Alexa.

Its amazing that you have shared your journey as I am sure there are many who take strength from your post to advocate for themselves. Unfortunately we have to continue to fight to be listened to.

Thank you so much for the advice you have given to me on past posts.

Thinking of you ❤️

You are SO welcome. I know that l MIGHT be a walking time bomb but l have a lovely hubby, daughter and grandson and also a great friend.

To be honest with you on a day to day basis it only passes my mind occasionally that l am in this situation, and l feel incredibly good for a woman of my age. I was talking to an acquaintance last week and we got onto the topic of retirement and she was quite shocked when l said l had been retired for many years as l am the age l am, that made me feel good.

Keep well

Thank you Alexa for all your generous posts and encouragement to us all. When I found out a few months ago they I needed such a massive surgery I was really upset and depressed at having to go through my 11th abdominal op. You have made me look at it differently and I am now so grateful that I’m under the care of a specialist endo centre and they have told me that this op needs to be done to stop potential changes post menopause that could likely turn malignant in the future. I now feel so blessed and send you all my thoughts for what you have been through.

Radio therapy is exhausting, I had 20 treatments a few years ago due to breast cancer and it took a big toll on energy levels for a few months after.

I am so glad that on a day to day basis you are generally good. Age they say is in the mind and you seem to be very youthful in your outlook on life. I hope you enjoy the sunshine that has now eventually arrived with your wonderful family.

Hi l have not been here for some time but thought l ought to catch up. Hopefully you have had the treatments you mentioned and have the support you need to progress with the rest of your life. Personally l have recently begun a watch and wait regime covering this year and 4 more years.

Stay safe and happy, sending all good wishes, Alexa
