So I’ve finally got my gyne app after a 6month wait after I’ve been constantly been bleeding heavy and loosing clots since December 2022, I have been on a few different tablets to stop the bleeding they’ve worked for a few weeks and then stopped and now nothing is working, the doctor referred me back to my gyne and put me forward for a Hysterectomy which by all means I am 31 I have 3 kids and I don’t want anymore, all I’m after is some advice off those who have had one I am at the point now where I’m fed up of being in pain and bleeding all the time it’s ruining me and my life all round so I am happy enough to go forward with a hysterectomy just want to know the after bit as I am worried for that
thank you 😊

hi Melissa, sorry you have been in such pain and uncertainty but so happy you have been listened to at last.
I had 2 hysterectomy in the space of about 10 weeks and each time l awoke pain free, hope you are the same.
Prep before you go I would stock up on non perishable foods, and if you can prep and freeze meals to last at least 10 days when you get home. The worst thing l found afterwards was standing still at a kitchen surface, chopping, peeling etc., but hubby was great and we are both retired.
Be patient with yourself when you do get home, it takes about 6 weeks for your insides to heal even with a laparoscopy and of course no driving for that amount of time.
My best buys for myself, a large soft cushion to place between seat belt straps and my stomach. A pillow wedge from ETSY for bed as lying flat is a no no for about 3 to 5 weeks.
Be patient with yourself and l really hope all works out well for you
I think it is worth reading up /finding out a bit more about this. Are they just planning to remove your uterus and leave your ovaries? In that case you will not go into menopause. If you are having the ovaries removed as well, you will probably be offered HRT. You need to be careful this is not oestrogen only as it can re trigger the endo,
Are they suggesting the hysterectomy because you have adenomyosis (similar to endo but in the uterus)? Have they told you where the endo is and are they going to remove it during the surgery?
Sorry just rereading this, I am assuming you have been diagnosed with endometriosis, but .I realised you don’t actually say so,
I have an appointment next week with my Gyne to discuss it fully, my doctors did the referral and suggested it’s my best option now as nothing is working to stop me bleeding I have been bleeding now since December 2022 so I will know more about it next week what they want to do.
I have been diagnosed with endo back in 2020 but also have pcos got diagnosed back when I was 13 I am now 31, my periods and pain are just getting worse and nothing seems to be working now so this is why doctors have referred me to get a hysterectomy but the gyne also have to agree
