Being Ignored and feeling crazy!

Hi all women suffering with period issues, I'm 18 and have been having issues since my first period, I was so ashamed of what was happening to me because I knew that not being able to walk, bleeding through multiple pads and having to stay in bed during my menstruation due to having no energy and too much pain wasn't normal! I wasn't taught to look out for certain symptoms during education or by my mum (that's not her fault), I felt weak for not being able to handle it as I thought it happened to all women, I got out on the pill 4 years ago and I'm still scared to take breaks due to pain, all the blood and how sick I feel.

I have had lumps around my pelvis area multiplying and getting bigger for a few years, they are sore to the touch and cause pain when I have flares up, as well as swelling my back, spasms swelling pelvis, bloating until I look pregnant, nausea and so much more. The doctors told me these lumps are lymph nodes and brushed me off telling me to take paracetamol (which has no effect on my stomach pains) saying that I am too young and it is my body developing, they also told me to seek psychiatric help and that sometimes they never find the cause of the pain, I would leave the doctors office in tears thinking I was crazy and imagining pain that wasn't there.

YOUR PAIN IS REAL!! DON'T LISTEN TO DOCTORS TELLING YOU THERES NOTHING WRONG, YOU KNOW YOUR BODY YOU KNOW WHEN THINGS DON'T FEEL RIGHT TRUST YOURSELF.

Finally after 5 years angry letters, tears, several doctors, hospital appointments pain and being ignored one doctor listened ! I walked out my appointment smiling and in shock ! I am being investigated for Endometriosis and Fibroids, I am having my laparoscopy in July and I am praying they see something that they can fix/remove because I have lost so much due to my health issues, friends, jobs, money and education.

Don't stop listening to yourselves when something doesnt feel right try find your one person to listen even if that means going to a private consultation or changing doctors, whatever you have to do to get them to listen, don't be brushed off as having "bad periods" or "just part of being a woman"

Sending love to everyone fighting their own battles, I am wishing you all get the answers and peace of mind that you need xx

Just shows you that if one person had actually listened to you earlier on in the process then you could have gotten help!

It's so stupid how often we get made to feel as if we're making our symptoms up so I'm very glad you finally got believed. I hope that your operation helps you to get clarity on your situation.

I was in a similar situation to you, it took one doctor to treat me like a human being and now my journey is so much more positive. I am also having my laparoscopy in July so sending love and luck back to you and I hope we both have a nicer experience xx
