Ovulation pain - G4 Endo - referral back to gynae?

Hi all

I have g4 endo - had a first lap with treatment in 2021.

Since then my periods have been better and my umbilical endo resolved, but in more recent months I've been really struggling with pain around ovulation, particularly on my left side. In my latest flare the pain was as bad, if not worse than my period pains, and was also accompanied by nausea and spotting. I saw an out of hours gp not at my usual surgery but as the pain had stopped by that point, there wasn't much he could do.

I have an appointment with my usual GP in a few weeks.

Do you think I might have a cyst on that ovary that is aggravated by ovulation?

I am going to push for a referral for a scan to check - do you think I am also justified in asking to be referred back to gynae? When I had my last surgery it was done through the assisted conception unit as it was part of fertility treatment but I have since been discharged from that department as we have stopped treatment. I'm also conscious that my surgery was done with more of a focus on fertility and not by an endo specialist, and given the G4 diagnosis, I know it's likely that there's more going on. With a g4 diagnosis would I be automatically referred to a specialist endo surgeon/BSGE centre or would I have to make sure I ask for that myself?

Thanks in advance!

Hey there! From my experience, I'd say it would be worth asking to be referred back and to make sure to stipulate you want to be seen by an endo specialist.

I've been getting the same for several months and I've just had a lap done by my gynaeoncologist and he found endo along with an endometrioma on the left side and that my ovary was tethered to the side wall and uterus. I've now been referred to see the endo specialist.
