Hello all,
I'm just posting in the hopes that someone else has also experienced something similar and that I'm not alone! A quick timeline of my endo journey for background:
-Diagnosed in October 2017 after 8 years of suffering at the age of 23. I also had an ovary that had burst due to a very large cyst, this was repaired along with removal of endo.
-Pain came back about 6 months later and I started Prostap3 injections finally in 2019, along with Tibolone HRT (2.5mg). Both were an absolute god send, no side effects when taking them both together and I stayed on the injections until March of 2023. I was very lucky and bone density scans have been conducted (all came back normal).
-Prostap injections started to become less effective in 2022, after over 4 years of use. My ovaries were starting to activate again, and my pain started coming back before each injection was due.
In April of this year (2023), I underwent a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, to essentially make the effects of the Prostap permanent. I have continued with my Tibolone HRT so, other than a bit of dizziness in the first 2 weeks, I haven't had any menopause symptoms. One of my ovaries was adhered to my bowel, so my surgeon had to remove my ovary from my bowel. There were also some small areas of endo, showing that the injection had indeed become less effective over time.
I am now just over 4 weeks post-op, and was healing fairly well, but suddenly have started to experience what feels like swelling/ bloating around my uterus. It also kind of feels like someone is poking me in the right side of my uterus when I sit down (when I make contact with the surface I'm sitting on), and also when I empty my bladder. I don't feel unwell otherwise, no signs of infection or any abnormal discharge.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Is it just a case of healing isn't a linear journey? It feels very similar to the pain I was having when the Prostap injections were wearing off early, so I was also thinking it could be withdrawal from the medication and a response from my Pituitary gland starting to send signals again?
