Pregabalin for pain and want o come off

Hi

I have suffered severe pain in my lower limbs of unknown origin. Cramps and heavy legs, hard to walk and do ordinary things. I am 77 and was in reasonable health until I moved back to England from Wales last year. I do feel stressed and sometimes have brain fog and blurred vision, again unknown causes. I want to come off the Pregabalin as my GP wants me on Sertraline because of feeling stressed and depressed since moving. She has given me Sertraline and said it was okay to take together but I have read that it isn't so I want to come off the Pregabalin before I start the Sertralin. I am on 25mg twice a day and need to know how safely I can come off these meds please.I am also taking Rivaroxapan for a clotting problem. Thanks guys

hello, sorry I haven’t got a clue and pregablin is a heavy duty med and would never do anything without a professional opinion.

Have you tried asking a Pharmasist? X

Thanks for replying. I have decided to com eoff by taking the 25mg in the morning but not the one at night. After reading more about this drug, I need to come off. I have becaome very fuzzy minded since being on it an ddidn't realsie it coul dbe the drug. My Gp wanst me on Sertraline and although she prescribed both, she said they were okay together. Doing a lot of reading, they should never be taken together so my faith in the medics has diminished somewhat. Thank you for at least replying.x

I find Pharmasists helpful and if you struggle just go ask for guidance. You can ring them normally, saves a trip out if you’re in pain. Take care x x x

I had a look online at the BNF which is the doctors’ Bible for prescribing and there is no interaction between Sertraline and Pregabalin.

However if you feel you are having side effects from it which outweigh the benefits then it is reasonable to want to stop it. I would still advise telling your GP and going slowly in stopping it. Perhaps your GP can suggest something else, There are some antidepressants which also treat nerve pain, sorry I can’t recall if Sertraline is one. That is also worth discussing with your GP.

Hope things improve for you.
