I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and if they could advise me.
I went for an ultrasound yesterday, the radiologist said that she can see some cysts and that my ovaries are lower down than they should be. She said she can understand why I've been in so much pain. The largest cyst she found was 4cm.
When I asked her if she thought it was Endo she said she doesnt know but it doesn't look like typical endo. I asked her if the cysts were in the uterus or on the ovaries and she said she couldn't tell.
On the one hand I was pleased that something was found to justify how much pain I have been experiencing but now I'm a little panicked that she said it doesn't look typical because she also didn't tell me what else it could be - does anyone know what the alternatives are? (I appreciate it's not the radiologists job to diagnose, she became a bit vague and I think she knew more than she could say)
Also I know it will be very different across the country but if anyone could tell me how long it took to hear from their consultant following a scan like this that would be great so I can manage my expectations.

In my experience it will depend on what type of cyst they report. Some cysts go away without treatment. If endo is suspected you should be sent for an MRI.
I had a three month wait to see gyn after the scan, but I'm looking at months before surgery. If you're already under a consultant I should imagine it'll be quicker.
Thanks so much for your reply, okay as you say hopefully it will be sooner than 3 months as it was my gynaecologist that instructed the ultrasound but I will use that as my benchmark.Good to know about the MRI, I'll see whether that is suggested.
hi ! I had an internal ultrasound in nov and was told I had nothing nasty but some fibroids ( that shouldn’t be giving me so much pain) I had to wait until December to see my doctor for results. She said I had a fibrous uterus and referred me to Ascenti physio and gynaecologist ( 50 week waitlist) I had Ascenti online appointment 12 Jan ( march if I wanted a face to face one ) and she recommended me for lumbar mri . I waited and waited and in desperation rang the radiology department they only got my request 2 march 😩 so my mri is now 31 march as they said they can’t do it sooner. Had a holding letter from nhs gynaecologist saying I’m referred but that’s it. I’m desperate for some answers to my pain x
Hi,Thanks so much for your reply - I'll have a look into Fibroids as I hadn't really heard of them/considered them at all! Also good to know you heard from them within about a month. Based on your reply and previous I might wait a month and then chase up.
If you don't mind me asking did they mention removing the fibroids at all?
I know what you mean about the pain, it's draining and seems to be lasting longer and longer.
Hope your MRI goes well next week and you can find an answer for pain relief soon x
hi ,Thank you !! no one has said anything yet so I’m waiting to see what the mri scan shows. My pain is every day as something is pressing on my sciatic nerves mainly left but also right leg and pelvis . I wish I’d asked to see my ultrasound as I don’t know how many fibroids I have so I’m going to ask for a copy of the mri if that’s possible then if I need a second opinion I can….I should have asked more questions when I saw my doctor in December x
I had an initial ultrasound in Aug they reported suspected endometriosis. Since they I have had consultant appointments for Feb and March cancelled. I am now due to have a hysteroscopy in May. I haven't been able to see or speak to anyone about in since a dr phonecall in Sept. I wish I could afford to go private but unfortunately that's not an option.
Definitely worth chasing as much as you can to try and understand if there are any delays built into the system. With my drs I had to chase them to actually loom at the results from the ultrasound to then refer me back to the hospital. Then I found out that it took the drs surgery admin section 1 month to actually write up the drs referral to send to the hospital.....
Hi, I'm sorry I forgot to reply to your message but I did read it and took your advice to chase up. Still no answers but after my 3rd phone call they gave me an appointment to see the consultant in May.I'm so sorry to hear that you have had those appointments cancelled and I hope you get some sort of check in appointment soon. Good luck with your surgery
