surgery for endo
It all depends on what they find, if it’s manageable there and then they might excise/remove some which might increase recovery time, or if more severe may just use the op to diagnose and to take pictures to inform a later op that they can better plan for.
I had a diagnostic lap last year and was signed off for 2 weeks. I found out in recovery that I had deep infiltrating endo from one of the nurses, but had a letter (a cc of what had been sent to my GP) that listed everywhere they had found it and confirming that I had endo.
Hope that’s helpful and good luck with the op! x
Hey,
They come round and speak to you after. I was about 2 weeks for both of mine, but everyone is different, and depends what they do. Is it just a diagnostic laparoscopy or to treat also?
Good luck x
Hey lovely!
I had my first lap at the start of this year and I was given my diagnosis almost as soon as I was out of theatre. All in all the surgery went well with no complications and was home later that night. I was told I had deep and moderate endometriosis and diathermy to remove the endo and also had mirena insertion. Initially I was signed off for 2 weeks by the hospital, but my recovery was slow with a few complication and ended up being signed off for 6 weeks. I was very sore the first 4 days and wasn't able to move too much but found gentle walking helped. Peppermint tea is a must ! Especially in the first few days as it will help ease the gas pain. I was also recommended to take ibuprofen for 7 days to help with the inflammation. Just take each day as it comes and make sure you rest as your body will need lots of it! Don't feel bad if it takes longer than two weeks, everyone is different.
I hope this helps and best of luck with your op x
aww thank you this did help it’s all the I know and I’m more scared of being put to sleep 😴 lol x
Wishing you all the best with your forthcoming surgery - it's totally normal to feel nervous about the process but please be assured that you'll be in good hands and the medical professionals will do everything they can to put you at ease. Feel free to ask any questions you may have beforehand so you feel fully informed and comfortable with the process. We have a document on our website that may be useful (if you haven't seen it already). It explains what to expect before, during and after a laparoscopy. Everyone's recovery times are different so take it easy after surgery and give your body the time it needs to heal. Take care x
