Hi guys, I’ve been diagnosed with endometriosis cysts in my left ovaries, one has grown and 2 are still small, now I have two on my right ovaries, I’m going for my prostap injection but I’m scared it’ll mess my insides up more as I’ve been on codeine nearly everyday, been to a&e so many times that I’ve lost count, work are keeping an attendance record on me as I work with elderlys and I’m in pain especially bending down to help or just general tasks. Can someone give me some advice please? I’m 33 and haven’t had children yet and I don’t want the thought of not having kids in my head as that’ll mess me up as I’ve worked with babies in the past for 10 years, I’ve always wanted one of my own ☹️

Endometriosis since I was 21
hi I’m sorry to hear what you are going through at the moment. My partner got diagnosed 2 years ago with endometriosis with had also grown around her bowel. And has just undergone a full hysterectomy to cure this. She has been in a lot of pain. What she found helped sometimes with the pain was a hot water bottle, it didn’t cure the pain but it helped. She was unable to do a lot of her normal activities she liked, which she hated. The only sort of advice I can give what she used to help with the pain was a hot water bottle and taking solpadeine plus or max soluble tablets now and then for the pain. Taking codine for long periods of time is bad for you and can lead to addiction. My advice for your work place is have you told them and if so show them all your medical documents you have been given by either your gp or consultant, also speak to occupational health at your work place.
thank you for getting back to me. I have been using hot water bottle every night which helps a little. I have told work place, another girl has the same who faints due to the pain, I’m glad mine isn’t that bad yet. But some days are harder than others. I’m going to have the prostap next week, but I don’t know if I should go for it as it’ll mess my insides up more
Hi, I just wanted to give you my experience of prostap injections. I felt really good when I had them and asked if I could stay on them but wasn't allowed. I managed to loose some weight whilst on it and my husband said I wasn't too moody either 😂 I was given a mirena coil after and I still have pain but it's not half as bad. Good luck. Hope it works for you if you decide to have it.
Racheywoo86 thank you, I’m in two minds at the moment. I’ve been trying not to have codeine, I’ll go some days without it but some days it’s impossible to not have it
I feel better with codeine to be honest. As I have to wait for a bowel specialist to see me as they will have to be in theatre with me but haven’t yet got a date for the operation or specialist appointment
Racheywoo86 have you had the laparoscopy yet?
Hi, so sorry for what you’re going through. This disease is hideous! I’ve also had DIE since my early 20’s (now 41) & have had many surgeries over the years. I’m now on zoladex injections & it has really helped the pain. Have you ever tried a tens machine if you’re wanting to steer away from medications? I find mine really helps x
Hoopy587 ive not heard of that. I’m sorry for what you’re going through too. Is the surgery painful? I know different people need different times etc to recover
Have you thought about nutritional therapy? Using an anti-inflammatory diet can help and there is research showing that NAC can reduce the size of cysts. Have you heard of Dian Shepperson Mills, she wrote Endometriosis: a key to healing and fertility through nutrition. See endometriosis.co.uk/
ccfd9 i will look into it. Thank you so much
