So after chasing results with my gynae’s secretary I was finally sent the radiology report from my MRI scan. The findings stated ‘likely adenomyosis with bilateral haemorrhagic cysts. (There were four or five in total) No evidence of fibrosis or DIE”.
I’m awaiting a follow up appointment to discuss these results. Is it likely I will still be offered a laparoscopy after these findings? The progesterone only pill is not helping and I am getting recurrent UTIs and worrying about my bladder/kidney function. I’m so nervous that the gynae will say there’s nothing more to be done!

Hi I think you should be offered a lap if you have adenomyosis. 25% of people with adeno do have DIE. Plus the cysts indicate endo anyway. You should push for a lap!!
Aside from the cysts, your MRI results are very similar to mine. On my follow-up appointment I was offered to option of either going on Zoladex for symptom control or a laparoscopy to definitively diagnose or rule out endometriosis. I opted for the surgery and despite no signs on the MRI, I was diagnosed with stage IV endo. It's the last diagnostic step, and you should definitely push for it, especially if you're seeing an endo specialist who can remove it at the same time. Good luck!
