Has anyone had a bone scan before when in chemical menopause to deal with endometriosis? Would love to know what to expect.
I have one on Thursday and I feel a little nervous of the unknown as the letter literally just told me the time and where to go and the dr has not said much else.
Really suffering with such terrible bone pain and praying it gives me some answers.
Thanks.

A DEXA scan. Nothing to worry about its a simple procedure. I had one a few months back.
You keep your clothes on, just make sure you are not wearing any jewellery or underwire bras. You lie on a bed in different positions and the machine runs back and forth.
Its not like an mri where you can feel claustrophobic or listen to that terrible noise either.
They did mine to my chest. You get the results on follow up with specialist.
Honestly you will be fine. Took less than 20 mins and the lady that did mine was lovely.
HiI know the feeling. I spend so much time in hospitals and waiting rooms having bloods done they might aswell give me a permenant chair. 🤣. I had mine as I have been on prostrap then switched to zoladex for 2 years. Im currently waiting a hysterectomy, bowel resection and bladder repair for stage 4 endo the joys of being a women. 🌞. I also developed pain in my joints and inflammation which led to me diagnosed with other autoimmune conditions. So they were checking the my bone density. Hope your scan goes well. X
Hello lovely,I know you're worried. But I'm pleased for you that the Dr is taking your concerns seriously. I don't know the numbers for chemical menopause and I should as it was offered to me mid August before I moved areas, but for depo the chances of osteoporosis are 1 per 10,000 users. If that's what you're worried about, I think you have the right Dr on your side.
The new nurse and Dr threw osteoporosis at me like I was doomed, but I'm the dairy queen, I eat my dark greens and I'm in a great gym with loads of weight bearing exercises.
Your Dr will likely have recommended all that and will have hopefully read the returning letter with recommendations after your scan. If you don't hear anything keep checking back.
Thank you so much for your reply. Unfortunately i am allergic to most dairy which I assume is the issue here, but have been taking my supplements. I have been on Zoladex for a long, long time now with no added HRT or anything - I was expecting there to be some issues tbh! Fingers crossed I get some answers as I have high rheumatoid factors on my bloods too, and feel generally really quite poorly!
I did wonder if you had a dairy allergy when I replied. I'm sorry to hear that. I feel you are doing everything you can. You are doing amazing and I hope you get the best treatment to keep you comfortable. ❤️
I think my mum has rheumatoid arthritis. Don't quote me on that! She's got one of them. And her joints are lumpy and sore (very technical I'm sorry) but she's on whacking dozes of naproxen which went so far to help. But actually she discovered that switching from a manual car to an automatic hybrid took away a huge amount of her pain and misery better than any medication. And she swapped her normal chainsaw for a battery power one. (the main heating is an open fire. It's cheaper than electric)
So what I'm trying to say is I can sympathise from seeing my mum and
I wonder what else your Dr can suggest. And I hope there's practical things they can do to help you as well as medication. ❤️
yes I had a Dexa scan, it showed I’ve got osteoporosis. I’m not even old it’s quite devastating. The scan I had was no worse than Cat scan or MRI’s which I’ve had loads for different problems.
