Zoladex for adhesions, cysts and Adeno

Hi

I've been suffering with such severe endo pain recently I've ended up in hospital twice. A MRI has shown a large ovarian cyst, and lots of adhesions on my left side, including my bowel. I'm also being checked for Womb cancer, but is most likely to be Adenomyosis. Either way, I'm now on Gabepentin and Tramadol for the pain, trying to work from home, and had my first zoladex last week to try and shrink the adehsions and cysts. To be honest, it has made it worse, but I'm hoping it will start to improve having read other posts.

My Gynae team are discussing a hysterectomy because my symptoms are so bad but are clearly concerned because of all the adhesions, and are doing all they can not to have to operate. Has anyone else been in this situation? Did the zoladex work well enough for you to avoid surgery? It would really help to hear from anyone else who has been through this.

Zoladex won't shrink endo adhesions as this is fibrosis which is deep endo. A large left sided endometrioma, assuming that is what it is, along with dense adhesions affecting the bowel is classic stage 4 endo You should be referred to a specialist endo centre - are you in England?

Hi, same situation here. Severe endo affecting large bowel, small bowel, rectum, bladder and eveywhere else. I was hospitalised last November for 4 weeks. Whilst admitted consultant started me on Decapeptyl another GnRH. Also on Pregabalin (same class as gabapentin) and Tramadol. I was off work for some time and work from home now also which I find easier to manage.

I also made massive changes to diet and no longer eat diary, soy or gluten. Was suggested by my specialist and pelvic physio. Hard to maintain at first but I have deffo noticed a reduction in certain symptoms, every little helps! if you can, see a Pelvic physiotherapist, can't recommomend this enough!

Decapeptyl has only helped so much. It wont help adhesions but with time you should notice some difference, took a good 6 months for me. Waiting for bowel surgery as hysterectomy, I wasn't mentally ready for and consultant wanted to drag this option ouy for as long as possible due to other health issuea/risks and also my age .

Decided to consent to bowel surgery as this is where my bowel is stuck and causing most issues. Not without risks, but I said I would try every option 1st before going all in for a hysto.

Maybe ask your specialist if there is a bridging surgery that you could consider if you are not ready for hysto ?

Hope you feel better soon lovely 😘
