I had my telephone appointment yesterday with my BSGE consultant after being diagnosed with severe endometriosis by MRI at my local hospital - I'm being booked in for a laparoscopy. She said it will be within the next 4 months- I'm shocked at how quick this seems, should I take it a pinch of salt incase it ends up being much longer? How long did other wait?

Being booked in for laparoscopy
Hi! I’ve recently been quoted 6-8 months wait for more extensive surgery (Midlands), so maybe they’ve been concentrating on clearing those long waiting lists? Hope it all goes well for you xxx
Thank you- mines at James Cook. I had initially thought the wait time was almost a year so pleasantly surprised when she said it won't be more than 4 months. She said she wants to do this laparoscopy, drain my cysts and excise what she can but if I need a bigger surgery then she will know from there if my bowel/bladder are affected. Hope you get your date soon xx
Sorry to hear of your diagnosis, and I hope you're coping well ♥️ I'm in Wales, I got advised by my Gynaecologist it would be a 6 month wait, when I called after 6 months they laughed at me and said it was a 2 year waiting list. Hopefully not the same for you but it's worth noting it'll likely be longer x
Hi Sarniemill
Wishing you all the best with your forthcoming laparoscopy. If you haven't already seen it, we have a really useful guide on our website that outlines what to expect before, during and after surgery. You can find it at endometriosis-uk.org/your-l...
Hope you find it helpful x
It seems very quick I think I was quoted three months in January now it looks like it will be next Spring.
