IVF stimulation…

So, I’m on day four of stimulation during my first attempt at IVF and I am in a lot of pain and discomfort

Has anybody experienced this? I have endometriomas in both ovaries and it’s like the high levels of estrogen in the stim injections are burning through my ovaries and lower back.

I will be contacting clinic tomorrow but blimey I feel so alone right now 😭💛

hi, so sorry to hear your suffering. I was exactly the same with the estrogen when I did my ivf stims. I think I lasted a week before I ended up having to cancel the round as I was in tears in absolute agony. Sorry that’s not better news, but for my very first attempt to get my eggs I down regulated by having prostap for a few months prior. Is that something you have done/is possible?

Alternatively after speaking to my doctor when I reacted so badly to the estrogen we did a natural transfer in the next round - no stims, just monitored my natural ovulation and transferred two days after. That was the round that worked for us ❤️

Wishing you the very best of luck xx

Unfortunately the prostap before stims is not an option for me 😢 It’s brutal isn’t it? I have been contacted by my fertility nurse who suggested paracetamol and rest

I have my scan on Monday and luckily after a bath and a decent sleep last night the pain has eased mostly. Thank you so much for your response! I’m planning on peppermint tea, heat packs and rest until Monday 🙏🏼 I was in such a desperate state engulfed by the pain it’s certainly a lot harder than I expected xx

Can I also ask how you responded to treatment the second time round? Xx

really glad to hear the pain has eased! Fingers crossed you can make it through the days of the estrogen and then it should definitely ease a lot more ❤️

So I had my egg retrieval after having a few months of prostap, so was able to manage that no problem. Unfortunately I couldn’t have a fresh transfer, so had to wait a couple of months for a frozen transfer. That was when I had the stims and had to stop - I was literally vomiting in my bin at work with the pain, that’s when I knew I couldn’t continue!

So the next month we tried the natural transfer, and that was a success (currently 28 weeks pregnant). As it was no drugs, I did this alongside acupuncture and I actually reacted better doing this process than I did during the medicated egg retrieval. I got to just over 8mm lining in that first round, but with my natural transfer alongside acupuncture I got to over 12mm! May be complete coincidence, and I know everyone is different.

Hope you have a better day pain wise, and wishing you all the best! Xx

oh wow what a journey this is right?! I won’t lie the pain came back at the lovely hour of 4am this morning however, paracetamol surprisingly is taking the edge off so today I’m going to try and fit a walk in. Endo is such a cruel cruel illness isn’t it? I honestly don’t think I could do the medical side of this again and neither do my doctors so I’m just going to try my best to ride it out. I’m so happy for you I really am and thank you so much for your responses it means so much doesn’t it? Just to speak to others that can resonate xxx

heya,

Sorry you’re struggling. The meds really flare everything up.

I had two rounds of IVF and had a lot of discomfort from the stimulation medication. Once I was on the progesterone it really eased off although the progesterone made me extremely fatigued. I had to rest a lot throughout both rounds. I’m currently 16 weeks pregnant from the last round so still earlyish days. I found that acupuncture helped me between and through the cycles. Also had to take paracetamol when it was really bad.

Wishing you all the best and I hope that once you’re on the progesterone it helps with the discomfort. Xx

ahhh so lovely to hear it may be early but… congratulations! Yes I was thinking the same about the progesterone I cannot wait 🙈 Oh really? In the first few days I tried to carry on as normal but it’s a lot harder on the body than I anticipated isn’t it?

I’ve taken paracetamol which eased it somewhat

Thanks for your response it brings comfort 💛 xxx
