Hi everyone. I come from Indonesia to study PhD in Glasgow starting in January 2023. My wife has been diagnosed with endometriosis cyst, and a local fertility specialists where we live suggested a surgery to remove it. But, because we'll travel to Glasgow soon, we're thinking of doing the surgery there. Does NHS provide free surgery treatment for my wife, considering my status as a student and my wife as a dependent partner? Any information is highly appreciated. Thanks.

Due to NHS waiting lists and the fact gynecology treatment is not a priority your wife could easily be waiting 3 years to get surgery.
So she should get any surgical treatment in Indonesian and make sure she is able to get her notes in English if necessary.
Hello, It is my understanding that when you and your wife apply/applied for your visas you would / would have paid an immigration health surcharge which would then entitle you both to free NHS treatment. If I were you I would make sure you bring copies of all of your wife's medical records and scans including the recommendation of surgery in writing. You will need to register with a gp and ask for a referral to gynaecology and go from there x
