I’ve been struggling for last 3 years following the sepsis I got when my daughter was a few weeks old. Every 2-4 months I’m in and out of hospital with right sided pain as I still have my appendix they always quiery this but always end up referring me to gynae. My bloods always come back normal and a few times there has been an inflammed appendix or even fluid around appendix. So I got out of hospital last night I had been in since Monday, they told me I had fluid that blocked my right Fallopian tube that got infected. However I was admitted back in May with a blocked right tube. I asked them to do surgery so they can have a propper look and make sure the issue is fixed I’m fed up of being in and out so many months .. but instead they gave me antibiotics and a scan in 8weeks same after care every single time I’m so fed up

Hi. Sorry to hear you're going through so much. I had my appendix taken out many years ago when I was 16 and the surgeon came to tell me that I had stones in it, a cyst on it and it had been at bursting point. I didn't think too much about it all at that age, but I wish I'd known there were things I could have maybe done to help save it. They've now discovered over 100 reasons for the appendix and I feel that my health has suffered from having lost it. I'm glad that they're more careful about taking them out these days, but it's not easy for you whilst you are trying to navigate a really difficult health phase. I got very ill a number of years ago after many years of severe endo pain and could barely do anything for a very long time. I ended up doing an anti candida diet, which sadly didn't solve the endo pain, but it did sort out a load of other awful symptoms. I discovered that certain foods made my pain much worse, so learned to avoid certain things at times of the month and limit others. For instance, bizarrely, I found out that if I had any more than 3 cups of green tea a month, I'd likely end up in hospital in horrible agony. Very strange as for most people green tea is very good for health. My niece had the same issue with green tea though....

I have heard of blackberry leaf tea being good for appendicitis and I've just read that mint is good as well. It's sometimes worth giving these things a go. I got told several years ago that I needed to have a tooth extracted. I wasn't happy about it and so did a fair bit of research and got a second opinion. The second opinion also said I needed the tooth extracted. However, I got to work with the garlic and other things I'd learned and within a fortnight I was told there was nothing wrong with my tooth and I could keep it.

I've heard of people getting rid of endo pain by going gluten free for 12 months. I struggled to do this as I had already cut out a load of sugary stuff from my diet and didn't have spare weight to lose. Unfortunately a lot of gluten free produce is loaded with sugar and cutting out the sugar made me feel so much better in myself. I did cut out wheat though and ate things like oat or sourdough rye bread and included things like oat based muesli in my diet or I soak porridge oats overnight with some buckwheat, which is great. You might find that just cutting out wheat may help.

Anyway, I don't know if any of these things will help and I hear how difficult things are... It can't be easy going through all this whilst keeping going as a mum. I hope you find something useful here though and I hope you get some much needed relief soon. xx

Thanks for replying I have tried avoiding foods and gluten free but it’s annoying because when I had my laparoscopy I was told I had adenomyosis and endo wasn’t found but then all doctors say I have so it’s very frustrating! This pain happens ever 2-4 months so it’s not even linked to my monthly’s I’m at my wits end

So sorry to hear you are at your wits end. I understand that feeling. I used to have severe pain every 2-4 weeks and it wears you down. Blooming Marvellous has given you some excellent advice here and I hope you can get to the bottom of what is going on for you soon. The only thing I can add, is that I've found taking good probiotics (you get what you pay for) have really helped me and they can be particularly good after antibiotics in replenishing the gut. I don't have a huge amount of experience with sepsis though. Have you thought of going to see a Nutritionist? I paid to see someone outside the NHS and found it very helpful. I know in the current financial climate that is difficult for a lot of people, but if you managed a few appointments they might be able to help. Sending a virtual hug your way. Hope it gets better soon xx

I like you have suffered since being diagnosed with endometriosis nearly : 50 years ago. I had a Hysterectomy at: 28 years old, but my ovaries were left due to my age. I have had: rectal bleeding most days since my issues began. I could not have my bowel removed due to the lining of my bowel being very thin. Hence, I have always had bowel issues. I have been unable to go out for a meal for several years, as I have awful diarrehea during the meal. Then: 18 months ago I started having symptons of my bowel losing brown liquid, with no warning. I am unable to get to the toilet. I have to have a bath, because of what state I am in, and my clothes also have to be washed. My Consultant thinks I have got: Bowel Overflow. I am unable to have mt Bowel removed. It has happened when I am in a shop etc. I am also disabled with my back. I had sepsis after having a Spinal Cord Stimulator fitted, 8 years ago. I am also going to try Probiotics. I do eat: muesli about : 3 times a week. I am a huge believer in trying to get a problem sorted. Keep fighting instead of suffering in pain. I am on: 24 tablets a day. Plus: 87 micrograms of: Fentanyl patches. Please try and get as much advice as possible to try and solve your health issues. regards, Della xx

Sorry to hear that! Hopefully they find soemthing for you that will manage your symptoms at least! Thankyou for responding x

Ouch. Not surprisingly you’re feeling so fed up. As it’s something that keeps recurring post sepsis it’s worth asking the GP what infection/s were identified at the time and trying to work back from that to support your system. Clearly fluid build up repeatedly isn’t a healthy indicator. Sounds as if there is an inflammation causing it to keep blowing up and hasn’t really been tackled. Sometimes antibiotics, hormone shifts post pregnancy can upset the internal balance. If it’s klebiesella bacteria then i found a high density liquid probiotic was useful route to help redress the frequent antibiotics- even if it’s not the root cause. I used Hormone balancers and gut anti inflammatory products like Omega 3 with decent ratios helped with the leakiness than can also happen around these times. (Most GP’s will be able to indicate if there’s a reason why you shouldn’t try these too. )

Finding / reducing dietary irritants were key to recovery , but generally am wary of removing healthy food choices out of diet. I found post many antibiotics for UTI’s that no one got ontop of that klebiesella bacteria was a player - apparently it can trigger lactose issues. It took me 48hrs to assess if it was an issue as lactose swiftly moves out of the system in 48 hrs and major muscle aches had for years stopped in the first 36hrs. So it was an easy win. If it hadn’t would have gone back on the kefir etc. Alongside a probiotic suited to the problem I took out lactose rich food, whey (replacing it with lactose free milk and yogurt and researching which other products were okay) . Some months on the gut has dramatically improved with soreness and inflammation radically reduced. It’s not necessarily the answer for everyone but most of us have really upset microbiomes with the hormone chaos and inflammation. Finding your bugbear is essential, without disappearing down the rabbit hole of “clean food “ or eating disorders that can develop in dealing with a chronic disease when we despairing cast round for answers. It’s a fine balance. Hope you improve soon x

Thankyou for being so helpful! I will indeed as my doctor to go way back to the sepsis infection! While I was in hospital a surgeon actually said this could all stem from the sepsis not being treated effectively it could of needed surgical intervention which is why I’m here now.. so going back and starting there is a good shout thankyou

My sepsis was connected to a chest infection. regards, Della xx

But what was the bacteria causing that ? Klebiesella is involved with UTIs and chest

Hope it is a good call for you x
