I have been on zoladex for around 7 months now to treat my endometriosis and since this last injection I have felt very fatigued, light headed and extremely pale. These are all typical signs of anaemia, just wondered if anyone else has suffered with this whilst being on the injections?
I'm staring to feel very poorly and weak, any ideas of what I can do to help?
Thanks so much x

Hi! Not connected to Zoladex, but I am currently being treated for unexplained persistent anaemia. I looked and felt really unwell all the time (weak, tired, pale) so asked my GP about it. Initial blood tests showed low iron & it didn’t improve when I increased iron in my diet. I have always taken a multivitamin/mineral supplement, but obviously this wasn’t enough! I increased red meat, as I had been eating some vegetarian food with my partner, and included leafy greens more often.
Have had further tests (blood/stool) to check for an underlying cause, disease or internal bleeding, but nothing found. They have suggested it might be to do with having had bowel surgery & being unable to absorb iron properly. Now on prescription iron tablets & hoping to feel energy levels improved in the coming weeks.
Anyway, I think it’s definitely worth a trip to the doctor for you, as they need to rule out all sorts of things & decide how best to get your iron levels back up if it is anaemia. Hope you feel better soon xxx
Thanks for sharing. Can I check with you if anything was found on the stool test that might impact that? Did they test for all the bacterias like below. When I rang my GP they told me they need a stool sample for each of them and if you do not ask an individual for each of them they only do a generic one.
Hi, nothing significant found in my stool. I know they checked for blood in stool and for H. Pylori. I only gave two samples, so that’s probably all they tested for. I did have many blood tests though, so many I lost count!
Hiya, sorry to hear you are having trouble with you iron levels. I think it is very common with the endo package. I am not on zoladex or any other medication but I too having same problem despite eating all the high iron food. I did a wellwomen test that randox offer ( you can book it online) and found that I have high level of the bacteria h.pylori. i am being investigated and see what can be done but I have read that impacts nutrition absorption so for the time being I am looking into it. Have reduced caffeine intake ( which I love) and increased nettle tea consumption to help with the symptons. I though i will share just in case...keep well
