Can it return?

Hi everyone,

So I had my laparoscopy last year in September and it went well, all the tissue was removed and they also found an umbilical hernia which they left alone.

For the past two months I have been having the same symptoms that I was having before the surgery, such as the abdominal pain and having to go to the bathroom all the time.

I also have new management at work how don't really understand why Im 'missing' all the time.

When I went for my six week check up, I as told that it wouldn't come back and that I should have no further issues. But here we are nearly a year later and I feel like I'm back at the start!

Does Endo come back and do I have to go through the same procedure and run around with G.P again?

Hi, I am also no specialist at all but am confident to say that whoever told you it wouldn’t come back was very irresponsible. There is no cure for endo unfortunately and yes, it can come back. I have had my first lap in oct/20, was fine for 10 months when I started with the same symptoms again. Had my second surgery in May/22, didn’t even have time to recover and am already on the waiting list for another surgery likely to happen in about a year.

Obviously every body is different and the way the disease affects us is differently but there is always the chance of recurrence. Might even be minimal, but the chance is always there because nobody knows where it comes from. I’m so sorry you are suffering again but hopefully you will find a treatment option that will work for you! 🤞🏻

Unfortunately it will come back because each time we have a period we are creating more. If you haven't been discharged from your gyno you could try phoning them rather than going through GP again

I was never informed that there was different stages. I was just told that it was gone. I may have to seek a second opinion. Thank you all for your replys. X

I was the same as you, had it removed in 2016, was never told much about it and didn’t know anything. Now I’ve symptoms dating back to last April and I’m only now learning that it’s chronic and incurable and comes back.
