Mine was a couple of months I think but was during height of pandemic. I was adamant I had endo but they weren’t keen on checking and just wanted me to have IVF, I didn’t want that without answers first, I was insistent and they decided to put me on the waiting list for a lap. 18 months! I couldn’t wait that long and went privately, turned out I had stage 3 endo but had it all excised. Just be aware they may try and push you to IVF without other investigations first
I was eventually referred in 2021 and it took about 6 months to get an initial appointment which was just a phone call in the end. It was determined I'd need surgery (which diagnosed endo, stage 4) which was delayed and took over 8 months to come through, not the 2 months the Consultant told me.
Have since been approved for IVF but I turn 35 in November and they've only just sent the paper work to the clinic. So probably missed the boat. In part because GP's told us not to contact them during Covid.
I'm afraid there are still huge delays and I learned that you had to chase the Fertility Secretaries a lot to progress. So make sure you advocate for yourself and be mindful of the 35 cut off (it may even be lower in your area).
I’m just starting my journey now , my surgeon told me to crack on with ivf I have severe endo affecting my remaining ovary and bowel , major surgery needed .
Had a ovary removed last year due to a large cyst they thought was cancer.
Had tests done already meeting with the fertility doctor in 2weeks .
Thank you for this! I had my second op last year and now my ovaries are already stuck again and how cysts currently! Is this with the NHS? Wishing you good luck & baby dust 💫
