So Monday I went for patch testing!.. Had 82 allergens put on my back for 2 days! Gotta say I didn’t notice much! Possibly some itching and burning, but nothing all to bad!.. Well today they pulled the patches off and I exploded in to one big red/rash/hives back!
Now I’m pretty sure I have ‘sensitive’ skin! My skin care is unremarkable! I bath 2/3 times a week, with simple soap and I dry! A habit I got into when I was younger as got sick of always being greasy! I tried to ‘train’ my body to stop being so damn oily! It worked to be fair! I went from needing to wash my hair daily to now once a week!
So I’m under investigation for a Sun Allergy! They’re wondering if the UV is triggering another allergy! If today was actually an allergy then it would appear I’m allergic to everything? 🤣!
So where does the line get drawn between sensitive/allergic! They did tell me I must take an antihistamine once I got home!
I think I’m looking at another hormonal issue here 🧐

From my understanding, allergic dermatitis is actually quite rare! Because you have oils in your skin that prevent substances getting deep enough to illicit an immune response! Or supposed to, anyway! Not actually sure! But my back was definitely not happy! Funny thing is, I have perfectly clear skin on my back! Never get rashes/spots/anything! It was perfectly clear until they removed the patches! Then it just exploded out of nowhere to what they called ‘a very angry back!’. It was angry, stung for about 30 mins 🤣 xx
Oh I didn’t realise it was rare (if I have that too- no idea)! I have to be careful with what I think of as my sensitive skin. But especially plasters and sports tape (anything you stick on!) - even the ones that say ‘gentle to skin’ - if its not hypoallergenic eventually my skin will react 😬 … although with the ‘Gentle to skin sports tape’ it was only after taping a number of joints with it all at once and wearing it all day that I had a really big reaction to it 😝
