Hi all, a pleasure to see a community of women that are willing to share their experiences.
As many women, I was misdiagnosed for around 8 years and only last December finally received my endometriosis diagnose. I have been taking Dienogest since then, but a follow up MRI demonstrated that I have deep endometriosis which has caused complete obliteration of my Pouch of Douglas and causes a lot of pain both from daily cramping and during intercourse. My partner can actually feel the endometriosis at this stage which is quite crazy.
In any case, I am booked for surgery in a couple of weeks and would love to know more about your experiences with it.

Are you having your surgery in a specialist endo centre - that is the most important thing. It's good to know if they are catching up with waiting list for severe endo as so many are still waiting a year and more.
Hi, pleased you finally had an diagnosis and are getting prompt surgery.
I was diagnosed with the same, deep infiltrating endometriosis which caused complete obliteration of my Pouch of Douglas. I can empathise with the pain!
I also had fibroids and advanced adenomyosis. I got diagnosed during the pandemic in September 2020 and was given a course of zoledex to reduce the mass. Unfortunately due to the elective surgery wait times during the pandemic I didn't get surgery until e/o March 2022!
I'm finally relieved to have it done and am now on week 5 of recovery! 😊
As a result I ended up being on zoledex for 15 months instead of the standard 6 months but the consultant said that this helped shrink everything down so the surgery was less invasive.
I had specialist endo, colorectol and urology surgeons and they managed to remove the endo. (Plus full hysto) I feel so much better in myself after surgery despite the general aches of recovery! I'm now looking at what hrt options there are.
Wishing you all the best for the op and a speedy recovery! 🙏 💃
