I am halfway through a 6 month course of Zoladex and I am really keen to stay on the medication whilst I am on the waiting list for surgery for my severe endometriosis.
Has anyone managed to stay on the medication for longer than 6 months? I was told that I would have a surgery date by now, and when chasing I have no date (I cannot even seem to book a smear test in my area, I am on a 4 month waiting list!) and I do not want to come off of Zoladex with no surgery date given to me.
Does anyone have any advice on how to handle this? I am getting really worried about managing the waiting lists/appointments etc and do not want to fall out of the system and have to start from the beginning again.
thanks so much x

I've been having zoladex injections now since Dec 2019 as I have stage four endometriosis. I was supposed to have the first procedure in Apr 2020, but due to covid that got pushed back. Saw my consultant back in Jul 2021 and he said that the waiting list is now looking like 12-18 months and I still don't have a date for it.
Reason for seeing the consultant back in Jul was I had an unexplained bleed for a few weeks. Discussed that I could stay on the injections for the time being and after my first procedure whilst I wait for my hysterectomy.
These injections work for me, can't describe how nice it is not to have a period now.
I was feeling the exact same way. I loved being on zoladex, I felt so much more myself than I had done in years. Unfortunately my consultant decided it was unsafe for me as I'm 32, so I'm on the mini pill until I get my surgery. I'm stage 4 and have no date at all for surgery. It has definitely affected my mental health but I am going to give it a fair chance, it's only been 6 weeks at the moment.
Why did your consultant think it unsafe do you mind me asking? I am 33 and I do not get on with any contraception as it turns me into a monster/I have terrible side effects so Zoladex is my last chance of treatment x
We didn't get into it much as it was a phone call as he had covid and we had lots of other stuff to talk about but I think it was to do with the lack of oestrogen for so long? He was very concerned about bone density which is related to oestrogen. I've always had terrible experiences with contraception too, but I've never tried it since separating from my husband to maybe the mood swings were from him all along 😂 I'm giving it a decent go but keeping a track of all my side effects, I'm also terrified that I'll go back to the pain I was in before the zoladex.
