So currently I am having a weird pain in my right side - I can only describe it as feeling like someone is scratching me from the inside. I get sharp twinges and cramps but the scratchy feeling is really bothering me and making my insides feel sore. Has anyone else experienced this? And what kind of pains and symptoms do you have?
TIA

I started with similar symptoms over 6 years ago, intermittent at first cyclical then progressed to mid cycle plus when I had a period. In recent years it became severe so I had an MRI which showed what they thought was a haemorrhagic cyst but it was an ovarian endometrioma on laparoscopy. Additionally there is a patch of old endometriosis scarring over my ureter so I'm now unsure where the pain is coming from. I'm waiting to decide whether to proceed with surgery. Interestingly neither of these lesions showed up on either TA or TV ultrasound scanning and use of the POP settled it temporarily. I would describe it as a raw sharp pain plus a sensation of something being swollen and stuck - probably quite apt. Have you had any investigations?
Hi thank you for replying! I am awaiting an appointment for my pre-op - I was told the wait is around 3 months for my consultant. I’ve been referred for a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. I’ve had the tv ultrasound and and external ultrasound. I’ve had biopsies taken from my cervix which showed abnormal cells (CIN1). The external ultrasound showed a 2cm Dermoid cyst but nothing else. My consultant says that the symptoms I have shouldn’t be caused by the cyst so referred me for the ops to investigate further. He is querying endo now.
I think once you've had the exploratory laparoscopy you'll have a better idea and they will take photos so that you will be able to discuss the findings. My consultant said my endometrioma was 1cm, which I think is on the smaller side but the MRI shows it is through the ovary not just superficial. I find it quite ironic that the male specialists who have never experienced periods or gynae pain pass judgement on what the pain should feel like - everyone perceives pain slightly differently. I hope everything goes well for you.
