Hi all found out today that my ovarian cysts are back and whilst it’s good to get a diagnosis after months of increasing endometriosis pain it’s pretty upsetting to think I’m going to need another operation, there have been lots of tears today. Last time i lost an ovary and a fallopian tube as they were compromised by the endometriosis. If that happens again and I lose the other one will that throw me in to the menopause?
More surgery needed : Hi all found out... - Endometriosis UK
More surgery needed
I’m so sorry to hear that. I had cyst and left ovary and both Fallopian tubes out in April as well as my right ovary separated from uterus wall. The recovery took longer than consultant said so I feel your pain and anxiousness at thought of it coming back and another operation. Sending you love and hugs. If I may ask, how long a gap was it between first op and the endo returning?
It must be hard to think you may have to have surgery again. It may be that they can treat the cyst in some other way. Some cysts can be treated with hormones - that happened with one of my cysts which was treated with progesterone tablets and it disappeared.
If you do have to have the other ovary removed then yes you will go into menopause. I had both ovaries removed last year and that is what happens.
Good luck with whatever treatment you have x
