Had my lap on Tuesday afternoon is it ok to have my electric heat pad constantly on my tummy? Also swollen uvula (dangly bit in throat)

Hiya everyone. I had my lap on Tuesday. Currently can only nod off lying on my back. Also I am using my electric heat pad 24/7, it’s not moving from my tummy unless I’m walking around. Is this ok? Also my throat is killing me 😩 the dangly bit is so swollen and touching my tongue. Am trying loads of fluids and ice pops etc… I am taking codeine for pain relief does anyone know if I can add in naproxen as it’s anti inflammatory? Thanks everyone for reading. I’ve added a photo of my throat.

Hiya, I hope your lap went well on Tuesday! After my lap, I could only sleep on my back for a while too. I think it's fine to have your heat pad on, unless your consultant told you any different? We need all the comfort we can get!

Your throat looks really sore and painful in the photo 😔 In terms of pain medication, I would definitely suggest speaking to the ward nurse at the hospital and asking for a little advice on what to take. Take care, and keep resting up!

Thank you for your reply, I spoke to the pharmacy and they said I could take naproxen alongside my other pain meds. I might ring the drs back tomorrow about my throat as I’m not sure I can wait until Monday it’s so swollen and sore 😩 xxx

That's great. I would definitely give the doctor's a call when you can - this isn't a normal "sore throat", you have just had major surgery and you need the appropriate care 😊
