Hi I am looking to see if anyone has had any similar issues as me. I am currently 20 working and at uni but can be hard with the pain as I have to stay off.
Ever since I stopped contraception tried everything pill - caused migraines and body paralysis. IUD - caused ovarian cysts.
I had persistent pain around my abdomen area ranging from the top of my stomach especially the sides and my back. The pain also occurred the week before my period and was agonising.
It feels like someone is twisting and pulling or a knot is being pulled within these area with a constant sharp gnawing pain that comes and goes . Normal pain killers don’t work anymore as the pain has gotten worst each month to the point I’ve been hospitalised and put on morphine.
Im dreading my next period as I know this pain will occur and causes me to vomit become dizzy and disoriented. I can’t eat or keep anything down and I can hardly get out of bed
Im currently on 30mg of cocodamol and naproxen to see if that helps but I’m in constant anxiety waiting for it to return.
I’ve been referred to a specialist for contraception to help reduce my periods and blood flow so hoping they help.
If anyone has any suggestions on what tests should I ask for please let me know
Wanted to know if anyone had anything similar.

I feel your pain, I was 20 ish when I was at university and struggling to study with the pain (a long time ago!) Have you had a laparoscopy? Excision surgery may help. There aren’t any tests as such that will determine the extent of your endo’ but they may give you an MRI to see if there’s an adenomyosis as well. If you go with the NHS Ask to be seen at your BSGE centre. Be tough and advocate for yourself, you shouldn’t have to experience this pain. I take tramadol for pain but it can make you sleepy & a bit sick initially, every body is different and sadly it’s trial and error to see what works for you. I know it’s hard but try to enjoy your studies (when you can) it goes so quickly. Wish you well xxx
Hi Mia1803, sorry to hear what you’ve been through! U r not alone ya…I fully understand ur feelings! Hugsss ❤️I’ll just share my experiences on treating endometriosis…hope it may help u dear! I’s diagnosed as endometriosis stage 4… my doctor prescribed me for the “Vissane 2mg” medication treatment…this is my 14th month on this medication, it works so well on me…no period but sometimes there’s some bleeding which is normal…the side effects are considered very mild as compared to the endo pain! I’m so comfortable and happy all this while without period pain….and my followup with the doctor last week, my condition is well controlled n getting better…so doctor advised me to either reduce to a milder medicine or Mirena coil. I will go for the coil insertion this week…so tht i don’t have to take medicine everyday. Pray for me…everythg goes well with Mirena! 🤞🙏Hope my sharing helps u in a way…try to check it out with your doctor. Wish u luck and all the best! Get well soon! God blessed! 🤞🙏💕
I have had the mirena for a number of years, it's been the it contraception I've had that keeps most symptoms at bay.. I get days where it's uncomfortable and everything that goes with that but on the whole I think it's worth the effort that's involved having it inserted x
Sounds like you need a laparoscopy. An ultrasound may be helpful which would include an internal scan but a laparoscopy is the only way to really see what’s going on and to remove whatever they find.
