Exhaustion

Does anyone else get completely exhausted when you have a flare up? Don’t know if it it’s a combination of hormones, painkillers and the pain or what. Anyone else get this?

I'm currently experiencing this! I think its the overload of pain on my body.

Have you found anything that helps?

Absolutely! I get brain fog too so find it hard to concentrate the next day or two. I guess flare ups are quite intense for our bodies, physically, mentally, emotionally. I used to get annoyed at this and my body, but I found that a shift in my attitude lessened the exhaustion x

I was hoping it would be better today but if anything it’s worse!

Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that. Can you take a day off? I know it’s not always possible with work, childcare etc. Sending hugs. It’s a bit cliche but I do find meditation to be helpful. I have a book called “mindfulness for health” by Vidyamala Burch as an audiobook which has helped me x

Thank you for the reply, it’s encouraging to hear from others who know what you’re on about! I’ve had to take a few days off, there’s no way I could’ve been in work the way I’ve been. Exhausted yesterday after walking a couple of hundred yards!!! I’ve looked into meditation and other ways to deal with pain but I can’t seem to completely get on board with it. Which is is shame because I’ve heard great things about it.

Hello, how are you feeling today? Even if you’re exhausted, I hope you’re feeling in better spirits. I know what you mean about meditation - it took me many attempts, different apps/ voices etc to find something that clicked. The book I mentioned talks about mindfulness, eg creating moments in your day to day, like whilst waiting for the kettle to boil for your cup of tea.x

hi swinnydm, I hope you're well today. I do feel exhausted at these times.

It seems like the least logical thing to do, and also do so within what you need to do for keeping your bowels working well, but do eat at these times. I find that I lose weight over these days and it can worsen how I feel in the long run.

Wishing you the best.

Joanne

Thank you for the reply. I thought today would probably be the last day but if anything it’s been worse. Funny you should say that about food though because I haven’t got much of an appetite. Doesn’t make any sense to me but I’ll feel a bit hungry but can’t think of anything I’d like to eat 🤷🏻‍♀️
