I had my right ovary and Fallopian tubes removed about a month ago. A large cyst and multiple chocolate cysts were removed at the same time. I’ve recovered well. However, despite the op my endometriosis pain has returned and feels exactly as it did before. I feel like I went through a massive surgery for nothing. I’m stuck to know what to do next. Has this happened to anyone else?
Thanks

Are you positive it isn’t post surgery pain? I had mine 6 weeks ago, large 8x8 cyst and ovary and tube removed. Plus excision of stage 4. Overall, I feel better but I have burning pain in the site of the removal. This I’ve been told is due to nerve pain. It still hurts for me to pull myself up and also to sit up straight. I’ve checked and recovery is 4-12 weeks. I’m not seeing the consultant until 6 months as he told me it takes that time for everything to settle and for me to have periods and see how they are. Then he can get a good picture of what’s worked etc.
Thank you for your reply. That was my first post and it’s great to know there are woman out there listening and caring. I had a surgery last October and then a last cyst grew back - so had another one mid July. Last time round I had an infection and this time around I didn’t and made a really quick recovery. I had a completely pain free week - before the latest flare up so I don’t think it’s post op.I’m unsure what it could be as they removed the ovary and Fallopian tubes, but the pain is in the same spot as before. Im wondering if it’s nerve damage from my first surgery that flares up with my cycle.
I’ve got the Mirena coil, but I still ovulate. Im wondering if I should try the combined pill as well to try and stop ovulation? Im don’t want to go down the hormone blockers yet
Hi just sharing my story. I had my first lap Oct20, removed endometrioma/chocolate cyst on left ovary (saved whatever part of that ovary possible), removed tubes & excised endometriosis everywhere + endometrial ablation. I felt great for the first 3 months. After that, some pain started back. But I was in emergency at 5mths post surgery with really terrible pain, couldn't stand up, throwing up on the floor, etc. Upon ultrasound, they saw a 5cm endometrioma had grown back on the right ovary. I was shocked that a cyst that large would grow back so quickly! I have a friend whose cyst returned quickly for her as well and had to have a 2nd surgery less than 1 year post surgery.
The surgeon recommended removing the cyst as soon as possible so basically 7mths after my first lap, I had another surgery. This time, given my age 49, I elected to have a full hysterectomy with ovaries removed. It was a difficult surgery where he suspected the cyst had ruptured and endo was everywhere, as if I hadn't had the 1st surgery at all. Recovery was a bit more difficult, but I felt better each day and by 2-4 weeks after, I was getting around fine. I was so scared for all of the side effects or for pain to return afterwards. But I am currently 3 months post surgery and feel great. Way better than the endo pain!
I know that everybody is different, healing is different for everybody. But if things don't feel right for you after a couple months, please go check it out. Feel free to message me with any questions. Wishing you the best for your recovery!
