Fibromyalgia?

Does anyone else have or think they have fibromyalgia as well as endometriosis? I have been getting pain in my joints and at pressure points all over my body and am wondering whether to go to my GP about it. Does anyone know what department would investigate that?

Hi I have a diagnosis of fibromyalgia. It was decided I had it based on my symptoms and the period of time I was ill. My GP diagnosed it. I have never seen anyone in a clinic but I do know that some people are sent to a pain management clinic. Please ask anything you want as it’s a horrid illness with fatigue and pain x

Hi, thanks, I didn’t know a GP could diagnose it, I wasn’t sure if mine would even know what it was. Can you differentiate your endo symptoms and your fibromyalgia symptoms? I’m not sure when to think it might be something else on top of endo. Are there any specific symptoms that stand out for you?

Hi my fibromyalgia gives me pain and stiffness all over my body and also brain fog. My fatigue is caused by chronic fatigue syndrome. No matter how long I sleep I am always tired. My endometriosis pain is located deep in my stomach, which can radiate down my legs and front part. The pain is very different for endo and it’s like labour like pains (I have never been in labour but my GP says it’s like that). I can say all together with these illnesses you never feel quite right, so you know what I mean? X

I know what you mean I think. I have recently really been getting the stiffness and brain fog and they do feel different than other endo pains. I think I will try to raise it with my GP soon, I’m just anticipating being told you’re too young to be feeling stiff etc. But given I have the endo diagnosis hopefully they will listen

Hello, I have fibromyalgia too. I went to my GP initially who referred me to the pain clinic for confirmation. Some people get referred to rheumatology for a fibro diagnosis. According to my gynaecologist, it is very common for women to have a combination of endo, fibro, chronic fatigue syndrome/ME, IBS and interstitial cystitis. I have been diagnosed with all 5. I would definitely go to to your GP. If they try and fob you off because of your age then insist on a referral to a specialist, I was diagnosed with fibro when I was 27, after symptoms for about 2 years.Take care x

I’m curious about my symptoms too as I had my endo treated, became pregnant immediately and then breastfed and am on the mini pill. Some symptoms have lingered but most of my endo symptoms have gone and it hasn’t had chance to grow back. I went to my GP last week because I could t cope with the pain, aches and fatigue and I’m awaiting blood tests to check my thyroid, but I fit all the symptoms of fibro. It’s frustrating to have to go through the process of getting a diagnosis again but it’s definitely worth exploring. My relative has fibro and thyroid disease and she said you can get seen by a rheumatologist for a fibro diagnosis (even though it’s not technically an arthritic condition)

I have also had my endo treated but found symptoms were still there and I got some new ones very quickly after my laparoscopy. None of my endo symptoms really resolved though and I’m waiting on another referral so I’m not sure what is what yet. I hope you get answers soon.

It’s a horrible position to not know why you feel so rubbish but keep advocating for yourself, you know when things aren’t right! I hope you get your answers soon too x

I just started seeing a rheumatologist after my gp ran some labs that revealed Sjogrens disease I complained about joint pain. Rheumatologist running more tests currently but her thought is it’s not fibromyalgia because I have joint pain and fibromyalgia is deep muscle pain. I have bilateral pain in feet, knees and wrists. Severe brain fog and fatigue. Dry skin and eye sensitivity and other stuff too but the rheumatologist said if not Sjogrens then Mixed Connective Tissue Disease. She told me many folks with endo have gluten sensitive as well. When I looked up gluten sensitive it said all my symptoms including brain fog and joint pain. A lot of times immune condition runs in threes. I have asthma endo and now this joint thing yet to be firmly diagnosed. As others have said please see your gp for further testing or referral to rheumatologist. Joint pain is not an endo symptom.
