fibromyalgia: Has anybody ever heard of... - Endometriosis UK
fibromyalgia
My mum has fibro so I know how awful it can be!
Just one thing to suggest...I was struggling with horrible joint and muscle pain. Struggled to stand up from sitting down and my legs felt like lead. I looked into vitamin deficiencies and after taking some Vitamin D supplements, my symptoms improved so much. Just something to look into if you haven’t already x
Who do i see for help on tbis should it show on lap
I have known lots of people with Fibromyalgia also , in my experience cutting out surgars can be very beneficial 🙌
Gp should be able to help 🙌
Thank you x
This condition was 'poo-poohed' for a long time by many Medics, but in the past few years it has been studied much more, and there is a greater understanding - although that will not necessarily have spread down to all areas of medical help.
I believe it is now classed as an autoimmune condition (could be wrong) and there are some treatments, but I'm not up-to-date. I've seen all the suggestions above recommended, and you should certainly have all vitamin and mineral levels checked, as shortage of Vit D or calcium, or other diet issues, could also be the cause of your pain, as well as fibromyalgia.
I don't know what tests they do to absolutely confirm it, but I did read a report that said they now believed that the pain came from inflammation of the minute fibres in the muscle tissue, so it is not going to show up on laps or scans. I know a lot of people on here, and on other sites (it seems to occur a lot in women with PBC - an autoimmune liver condition - have said that being prescribed amitryiptiline helped to ease the pain and inflammation and aid sleep ... but it can make you very snoozy, so it's only good at night, and even then the dose needs to be tiny to start with.
Hope this helps, at least you can tell your Doc that there is far more to be done, than seems to be being done.
Thank you for ur help just feel like a walk junk box as got to many tbings going on with .my body
My friend has fibromyalgia and takes nortryptaline (anti depressant) as that seemingly helps with the pain. After years of going back and forth to the doctor with aches and pains she was diagnosed based on this. Hope this helps and could you say to your GP that you have symptoms of fibromyalgia? x
