Had my lap yesterday which found NO endometriosis but confirmed my adenomyosis as my uterus was thick. Surgeon said for women my age (24) the extent of my andeomyosis is more seen in middle aged women. Gave me a coil to help with the adeno. However they also found scar tissue lesions on my bowel hence my horrible bowel symptoms. Couldn’t remove them all but wondering anyone else had this? If I’ve not got endo what is causing the scar tissue on bowel never had surgery for my whorl before ?

Hi Adeno2020,

sorry to hear you’ve been going through this. I wonder if you had your lap with an endometriosis specialist? Endometriosis lesions can be easily missed by non-specialists. I had a lap 10 years ago and was told had no endo (general gyno) Had a lap with a specialist last October after so many more years of issues and endo was found in several places including on bowel, with extensive scar tissue from years of damage. If I was you I would want an explanation of why there would be scar tissue in the first place if no endo? I also have adenomyosis, seen on MRI and confirmed at surgery. I have bowel bleeding during period as well and am awaiting a colonoscopy but am wondering if adenomyosis might cause this....though no doctors have told me this. I’d recommend joining Nancy’s nook for lots of good information and list of specialists. Just wanted to let you know that because 1 doctor has said you don’t have endo doesn’t mean they are correct! I wish I’d known 10 years ago this apparently happens fairly often as endometriosis has many different appearances and can be missed. Endo and adeno often go hand in hand although it is of course possible you just have adenomyosis xx

Hello Thankyou for your reply and sorry it’s took a while for me to see it as been recovering. To my knowledge my surgeon is an advanced laparoscopy specialist mr dr afifi so I’m guessing that means specialised in endo? I mean I’m very confused as to why I’d have scar tissue on my bowel with no endo? But Ofcorse haven’t questioned it. He wants to see me in 4 months time to allow my coil time to settle and then review things however I’m 100% going to be asking to explain the scar tissue and to my knowledge he couldn’t remove all as risk of damaging bowel so does that mean more surgery in future or risk of more growing etc. As I’m still having intense bowel movement since surgery and pain up my rectum with and without bowel movement. Thankyou for recommending Nancy’s nook going to take a look x x
