Hi ladies, I had my third extensive excision surgery for stage 4 endometriosis in 2019. I’ve been suffering for over 16 years. I was then fortunate enough to give birth to our baby 8 months ago. She’s breast fed so I haven’t had any periods yet thank goodness but the past few weeks I’m feeling sharp niggling pain returning in the areas where my endometriosis was at its worst. Can this just be pain from scar tissue? In your experience could it be creeping back? I’m absolutely gutted about this as I want to be the best version of myself for my baby but the pain I had before the surgery was out of this world. My surgeon has advised me to take the progesterone only pill before any pain starts but I’ve been avoiding synthetic hormones because my endometriosis grew at its most viscous rate whilst I was on the combined pill Yasmin which he put me on. I don’t even know what I’d do about pain relief whilst breastfeeding 🤦🏻♀️ any advice from people with similar experiences would be welcome. Thank you x

Hello BlueTit98,
Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl! I’m sorry to hear you’re starting to have niggling pains returning, it could be adhesions or endometriosis. You won’t know for sure without a laparoscopy. A COC pill (Yasmin) will feed endometriosis where as a POP pill (Desogestrel) won’t because it doesn’t contain estrogen. With regards to pain relief while breast feeding, you can take paracetamol and ibuprofen safely.
I hope your pain continues to be manageable and doesn’t get as severe as before.

Hi there, have you looked at Utrogestan? It is the only bio-identical and true progesterone the others are all synthetic. It is used for women trying to conceive and also for peri/menopausal women as HRT, I am currently taking it as HRT but also taking extra to suppress Endo symptoms which I have just been diagnosed with.
