Also what symptoms am I supposed to have. I have heavy periods and bowel bleeding. I have looked at the symptoms and I don't have any. Am I just being silly and carry on as I am

A scan can be effective in diagnosing Adenomyosis- it might be you could get a laparoscopy to check for Endo. This will also help diagnose Adenomyosis as they will be able to tell if the uterus is spongy. I would ask for laparoscopy as a scan will not necessarily show up Endo. You’re not being silly and neither should you settle for pain but you may have to fight your corner. You may have both Endo and Adenomyosis. There is a good video on Adenomyosis on the endometriosis uk website which you may find helpful. Both conditions require treatment, it’s not ok for you to be left to deal with it. Be strong. Good luck xx

Thank you. I just fell silly as I don't have any symptoms apart from bowel bleeding.

I’ve just had a laparoscopy for suspected endo and drainage on an endometrioma. They found both endo and adenomyosis but I have light periods and no bowel bleeding. I think it depends on the stage of endo, where it is and whether you have adhesions. Ultrasound scans can diagnose adenomyosis without the need for surgery if you have a good sonographer, you can take contraceptive medication or the coil to manage pain and further scarring. I’ve not gone down that route yet and am trying to manage it with a strict diet but wonder if I should consider it to give me the best chance of having babies in the future! Difficult to know what’s best sometimes so try and seek out a good specialist centre to get referred to for advice.

Thanks that's really helpful. I don't have any pain. A funny tummy and some pain sometimes when I need one but that's it. Nothing Major. I just feel silly for bothering people.

If your bowel bleeding is with your periods it's a classic symptom of endometriosis. And no you are definitely not being silly. Good luck xx

Don't feel silly and you must fight your cornerI had adenomyosis diagnosed by ultrasound, but they also suspect Endo. I was given Prostap3 and sent on my merry way with no patient information. Thank goodness for this forum, because the Prostap3 hasn't agreed with me. I've now gone private and sought a second opinion. I had an MRI and my new consultant said Prostap isn't the best treatment for an adenomyotic uterus, and he would try the Mirena coil and he said he might end up having to do a laparoscopy to check for Endo and adhesions. It's a battle but don't give up! All the best xx

Hi hope your well I had my laparoscopy yesterday after being told for years I hve endo. Turns out there’s no endo but I have severe adenomyosis. Also get vowel bleeds and painful vowel movement and during my lap they saw scar tissue on my bowel.

Good morning, I hope you don’t mind me jumping on your post. I am currently waiting for a appointment with my local endometriosis specialist after a ultrasound showed a overly thickened womb lining with irregular edging which I am assuming they believe could be adenomyosis.

I was just wondering what was the next step for you after your scan?

I haven't had one yet. The gp reffered me to a gynaecologist at the same time she reffered me for my scan. That was March. I did read online and spoke to a few people who said that my diet might be the issue. This week I have tried my hardest to cut out dairy. I have coconut milk in hot chocolate and have lacto free milk in every else. I have noticed a big difference. I used to drink a pint a day in various forms . Since stopping I have less gas which I attributed to having from the milk. Maybe have a look and see. A friend gave me a great website called ademoysis home. It has a pink background. It's not offical but informative none the less
