Pain when sitting?

Hello!! So good news is that I'm finally on the waitlist for a laparoscopy in a year to see what's going on, the bad news is that I have a year to see what's going on πŸ₯²πŸ€£

So I usually get bad leg aches when walking even if it's not much, but I've recently really struggled to just sit pain free and from reading on here it looks like leg/hip/thigh pains can be related. Honestly it feels like these things just hit me out of nowhere and that I'm just ticking off another symptom I didn't know about haha!

Is there anything to relieve the pain of sitting? It feels like trapped crampy pains along my bottom of my back, tops of my thighs and then when I'm walking it's probably easier to list where there *isn't* pain 😳

Any advice? I feel like I'm 22 going on 220 at this rate!

Thanks x

Evening lovely,

I get those bum/ back /thigh cramps & stabs. They're truly awful aren't they? Do you find your symptoms are worse during your period & /or ovulation times?

Personally, I find heat to be one of the best relievers - I literally sit with a hot water bottle between my legs & another on my lower back or lower abdomen.

TENS is also a good distraction from the pain, depending on where it is - apparently there are wireless ones available now.

I'm due to ovulate this Friday but think I've already ovulated on my right side yesterday & my left is starting to flare up in preparation - It's been an extra crampy time for me, double trouble. Coincidentally, I'm also having my first diagnostic laparoscopy on Friday.

I'm 36 - so glad you're heading towards diagnosis when you're still quite young, it's good when someone finally listens isn't it?

Take care & keep posting xx

Hello! I had never noticed but you're so right, it is around those times where my pains are worse! I hope your laparoscopy goes well!

Thanks so much for the tips I'll definitely try these out, it's so frustrating when even sitting is uncomfy, feels like we can never catch a break!

It's so nice that I'm finally being listened to, been fighting for this since I was 16 and being dismissed tonnes so it's really nice just knowing that it won't be long until I have more answers xxx

I totally agree with Purple, she has recommended everything I was going to say. I have a heated pad which can be plugged in, so much easier than filling up hot water bottles every hour or two! I can set the temperature and then just lay down and let my back soak up the heat, it really helps, especially at night when I'm trying to sleep. Waking up at 3am and making a hot water bottle sucks lol so if that's you then please get a heated pad! So much easier lol.

Have you experimented with changing your diet? I know it sounds silly, I rolled my eyes too when people said it. But I have noticed that alcohol, red meat, gluten and dairy make things 10x worse, so if I can avoid it then I do, it doesn't make all the pain stop but it's not completely insane where I'm rolling around in pain. Xxx

Oh the plug in heated pad sounds like a shout! To be fair I do also have IBS and I'm sure there's some overlap in there somewhere, I'll definitely keep an eye on what foods I'm having when the pains are bad and try to cut them out just to see if it's any help; I'm a massive foodie who usually picks the worst food options and pops buscopan after πŸ˜…πŸ€£ but if the food is affecting this too then it's probably time I start taking it a bit more seriously

Thanks so much, this is super helpful! Xxx

Love the sound of the plug in heat pads!Gluten is an enemy of mine (although sometimes I can't resist the crunch of fresh, crusty bread πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ). I'm lactose intolerant, so avoid dairy for the most part... Love cheese... Not easy is it? πŸ˜…

Hope you're OK xx

It was Β£20 on Amazon :D really kicks some heat out too, it has 6 heat levels and i never have to go beyond 2, really good. Also has a timer on so if you nod off then it turns off automatically :) and it can be washed :D can even be used damp! Though I haven't experimented with that yet lol.

Gluten is my enemy too Purple lol but I looooove bread and pasta, so it's been a kick in the teeth lol also love bacon and I'm not allowed that either or I get crippling stomach cramp and bloating πŸ™„ endo sucks lol so much more than a period issue!

Seascapesandsunshine (that's a long name lol) if you have IBS symptoms just make sure your gyne knows about them and they can rule out endo causing it! So many of us are fobbed off with IBS, I was for years and no treatment ever helped. Fast forward 6 years and my specialist thinks the endo is causing it! Hope the diet changes help, I do the same and eat things then regret it after lol we are only human so don't be hard on yourself 😘😘 xxxx

Unfortunately I have had little luck with my endo specialist, and when I said IBS she said "well we won't know until the surgery next year so let's not come to any conclusions" instead of any suggestions to help - even tho most of the ladies in my fam have IBS and share endo symptoms, my grandma even had her laparoscopy and diagnosis and the gyne still brushed me off! πŸ™„πŸ€£ might try and find other specialists hopefully through the NHS since she's been no support whatsoever, thanks so much for mentioning that! Also yessss I really need to change my username it's such a faff to type 🀣 thanks so much for your advice and being so lovely! Xxx

I don't know if it will help your specific symptoms but have you considered seeing a women's health/pelvic physiotherapist? I've been seeing one for 6 months now and it has really helped with some of the pain.

Hey! Oh I had no idea that was even a thing, I'll definitely look into that thank you so much!

If youve not hesrd of a low FODMAP diet its also worth looking at for IBS symptoms I was doing anyway before my endo symtoms started, and when I saw a private gyne he also recommended it x (basically lactose free, gluten free, certian fruits and vegetables cause irrotarion3to gut, particully onion and garlic ) x

Ahh I have for my IBS but I end up giving up because I love food too much πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I do want to start taking my health more seriously tho cause I've honestly gotten worse and worse recently and it's not worth it, so I'll definitely give it another go (I only learned through this thread that diet could help with endo too, it's madness, this whole forum teaches me so much!) Thank you so much! Xx
