Zoladex?

Hey guys,

I’m looking to hear anyone’s experience with Zoladex injection/implant?

I went to my appointment yesterday feeling very exhausted, and feeling like I have little options left. My surgeon presented me with the 2 options I do have, which is pain management therapy and Zoladex. I’m only 21 so as you can imagine I was a bit startled at the idea of menopause, but as these are my only options at this point I really am willing to try anything. I would really appreciate it if people could shed some light on it, the affects (good and bad) and just overall experience; also if anyone had issues getting pregnant after it?

Also, if anyone has taken the pain management route and found it helpful, please share that too. I’m just trying to make the right decision for myself and my body, but finding it really difficult to weigh out all the options!

Thanks guys x

Zolodex was life changing and I have it with add back HRT tibilone. This just protect my bones.

I had zolodex in 2007 and my periods came back no problem.

Zolodex has not been without persevering through some stuff!!

So now I am being kept in medical menopause until I get a hysterectomy date as with my specific case, it’s the best option. I am now 45 and I won’t bore you.

So Zolodex - it’s injected into your stomach muscle monthly by a nurse at my GP surgery. I get the prescription from the pharmacy before the appointment. She injects it at one side and then does then next side the following month.

It’s stopped the painful, heavy periods and my energy increased. I lost some weight as I felt really good once it settled. You can control the calories in your body via your mouth and it’s only this that causes weight gain. I have a massive old lady tummy which I will address after my hysterectomy!

The HRT stopped the menopause symptoms which started pretty much when I got back home after my first injection. Hot sweats, flushes, insomnia. It was 1 month of sheer hell. Asked Consultant to take me off and she discharged me. I went back and she gave me HRT with it and now I am much better. I did 4 months and had a break. Then been back on it and it takes away a lot of the pain. Sadly it’s still bad and I feel patched up with meds.

Feel free to ask questions. Happy for you to DM me anytime x

I was going to ask the same thing! I saw my consultant on Thursday and he suggested I try Zoladex and HRT at the same time for 6 months then go on to progesterone only pill. I want a treatment that will work but am scared of what it will do to my body and I wasn't offered much in the way of alternatives (other than hysterotomy). So glad I found this forum, it feels a lot better knowing you guys are all out there! xx
