Hi I'm from Wales too, been thinking of trying to get another lap, old gyne who wasnt specialist left my pouch pf douglas which still causes most of my horrific pain, i even made a post about it! I saw it on news its 4-5 years and I'm worried about costs since i cant work because of the pains at the moment. Please keep us updated in how you plan your treatment going forward be interesting to see what others in wales do. My health board said before they wont send me to Cardiff specalist because we aren't a part of thier board! So frustrating here hopefully i be bale to argue otherwise.I recommendd phoning the provzte place up for an enquiry to estimate based on your history ect from what i saw in qales about 4k but who knows with covid presures now Good luck!😊
I'm just outside of cardiff but I have been under them for about 10 years now. I've had 6 laps in the time. I'm lucky I stayed under them as they cannot accept anymore due to the covid pressures. They're a 5-6 year wait too.
Waiting lists are mad especially having not mant doctors in Wales hope that changes for us, I'm about half hour drive from cardiff but GP never let me there not even years ago. Thanks for replying i hope you get the treatment you need soon 🤞
Hello Ash,
I am seven-weeks post private surgery. An all inclusive package including a one night stay cost me £3,600 with Spire healthcare. I believe they have consultants and hospitals across the UK. I will say that it’s absolutely the best thing that I’ve ever done. I was taken care of so well and I trusted the consultant much more than I’ve ever trusted any doctor or specialist from within the NHS.
Hey Ash, I had mine recently in central London and was fortunate to be covered by work insurance. My surgery was quite extensive as I also had to have a bowel resection and stayed in hospital 3 nights. Total cost from what I’ve seen my insurer billed so far is £16-17k. The surgeon (and anaesthetists) costs were about £4-5k so I’m sure if you go to a non London hospital their charges won’t be as high. X
I was in the same situation, ask your GP for an open referral and that will give you the option to book at any hospitals that is local to you, it will include private hospitals that accept NHS patients and you don't have to pay.
Hi, I went to a highly recommended surgeon in Birmingham through BMI hospital - can’t name him because of the rules of the group- but I believe he is considered one of the best in the country. Surgery and overnight stay, follow up consultation etc was all included and it was £8.5k which is far more than other places but I have no regrets about it and feel I was in the best hands- good luck, I hope you can get one soon x
