Going private

Does anyone know how much a private consultation would be in the midlands area, roughly? I've been experiencing so much pain again and I don't think I have it in me to go back to the doctors to be fobbed off or put back on the pill, so I've been debating seeing a private gynae for a consultation to see if they can suggest anything better. I don't want it to break the bank but some of the ones I've seen have been a little higher in price, is £100 ish the best I'm gonna get?

It depends on where you go and what is done in the consultation, for example, I live in Belfast and I went to see a private gynae who put me on a laparoscopy list straight away, she also done an internal ultrasound which confirmed her need to put me on the waiting list, for that one appointment I paid £370. I would check that you are booking into a reputable place, and just be prepared to pay a little more as they may want to do extras such as scans x

Thanks for the reply. I've had a lap and a ton of scans through the NHS but nothing was found, but I had been on the pill for 4 years at this point and now been off it 15 months! I'll have a look round and see what I can find x

Hi could I ask who in Belfast you have seen? I have been recently referred but told it will be a 3 year wait to even see a gynae with Belfast trust.

Hi,

Im East Yorks & paid £175 for my consultation with an Endo Specialist. I think all are around the same price privately.

Hope this helps.

Paula xx

I’ve just had a private consultation in the north east and it cost me £300. And where I am that’s the average price if you want to speak to someone who specialises. Hope you get help 😊

I know it seems like a lot but going private is the best thing I ever did. They diagnosed my cyst which the NHS didn't and having that removed has helped a lot with my pains and general well being. I hope you are able to get the money together, I have no regrets going private. Xx

I've seen 2 in Birmingham, one was £250 (private BSGE centre), the other £180 (NHS BSGE surgeon but privately)

Hi there. I live in the midlands and went private for my first consultation costing about £250 I think. Investigate who you want to go with first, some advise if you don’t mind is don’t go with Mrs Sinha, I had a terrible time with her and others have had this too! I then asked to go back with NHS. Let me know if you would like more info on my situation.

You can ask (demand) your GP to write you a referral, they will write it as it means you will be out of their hair (so to speak!).

Yeah, I just don't fancy going back to my GP as it's an effort to get an appointment around work and they just tell me to go back on the pill. I got a really sharp burning and stabbing pain in my pelvic area so I'm gonna go walk in centre tonight and then see what they suggest and go from there x
