Tethered bowel
Heya, my bowel is attached with 2 lesions to my uterus. My consultant is a gynecologist with a specialism in Endo (and because of this my hospital is now an Endo centre) but she said I need to have a consultation with a bowel surgeon as well. And then the surgery would be between the two departments working together. She said that the wait lists are also not as long as they are for laparoscopys or bowel surgeries as they have special appointments every few months for surgeries such as these as the aftercare team also have to have knowledge of both. I know that might not be the case for all hospitals but it was reassuring. You could ask your GP maybe or look up specific consultants that specialise in Endo and see where they work nearby. I hope you get your referral soon xx
I was told this qualifies you for a referral to a BSGE-accredited centre, which is what I have had done. Best of luck
Hi as far as I am aware being a bowel sufferer all bowel should be treated by a bgse endo specialist my gynae wouldn’t touch it. Bowel will normally need a multi disciplinary team of people eg bowel consultant etc.
Good luck x
Thanks, yes this clarifies it for me
