can anyone offer guidance with the pill and endemetriosis? I’ve been on Yasmin pill for the last 17 years and my GP has just told me I’m too old to continue taking the pill (I’m 47) and has just told me to stop. I’ve questioned this and asked what alternatives there are for treatment of my endometriosis but he didn’t really have any and actually suggested I look on a forum ? ( I’ve asked fir a second options as I wasn’t happy about his response)

Why do you need to stop? Or couldn’t they give you a reason for that either 😂If it’s just an age thing rather than a specific medical reason ask why.
He has no idea really and probably read an article in The Pulse Today about hormones and applying it carte blanche 🤦♀️ I might be doing him an injustice 🤣
I wish I could offer a solution, but have no idea what’s going on inside at present, let alone what to do.
I am trying one of these oxygen cans, just because I think there is a link with Endo, sleep apnoea and oxygen levels. May find out tomorrow.
He didn’t give me an adequate reason which is why I asked for a second opinion, I had to even suggest whether it was worth me considering HRT if the risk is sue to my age abs the fact he thinks I maybe menapausal!🙄 good luck with your oxygen can !
Hi Curly7I'm in the same position as you. Once you're over 40 your risk of blood clots dramatically increases. I also have optical migraines which puts me at very high risk. Basically they apply a score for every risk and these are added together. Three is considered high risk. I scored five so my gp wouldn't prescribe it for me. GPs know these risks but rarely explain the calculation so you're left wondering what has changed.
I was diagnosed after coming off the pill and have had a lap to remove deep infaltrating endo on the bowel, ovaries, tubes, urea, etc. They also fitted a coil. It apparently can take six months to work. First month was fine, next three months were horrendous (but I'd been on zoladex previously to put me in a temporary menopause so my hormones were kicking in). I'm now at month five and think it's starting to work.
There are options. Are you still under the care of an endo specialist or clinic? If not, how severe was it?
