I’ve recently had the copper coil insterted under reccomendation from my doctor. The pain after having it fitted seems a lot lot worse than it was before it was fitted. Struggling to manage the pain along with heavier bleeding? Had anyone else had the same problem? Looking for any help and support possible. Due to have surgery to remove an ovary next week due to cysts and adhesions being. Isabel from scans along with pain swelling bowel problems and heavy bleeding

So sorry you’re struggling with the pain!
I had the merina coil fitted 3 weeks ago, the pain for the first 4/5 days was so much more intense than I was expecting! But it did start to ease after that, to mild cramping with occasional contraction pains when I do anything other than sitting still. But it does seem to be easing each day and lots of people have said it does get better with time 🤞🏻
Hope your surgery goes well and you start to feel better soon 💕
I had the copper coil fitted a couple of years ago (before I knew what endo was). Ended up in A&E because I was in agony and couldn’t understand why. Dismissed by the gynae and told to get used to it.
When I went to a gynae last year and she suspected that I might have endo, the first step she recommended was to remove the copper coil and replace it with the Mirena coil as hormonal contraceptives are apparently better for slowing endo and managing pain.
I am now in the process of going to an endo specialist so I don’t know how much of what my gynae said is accurate, but I’m not convinced that the copper coil is right for you. I had constant pain during my first period on the copper coil that was the worst I’d had at that point and reduced me to tears daily. It did get better as my body got used to it!
Could be good to go to the dr to get the position checked and query having the copper one. In the end my Mirena moved and that also caused severe pain, but it felt different. As you’re struggling I would say call the dr or visit a gynae or sexual health clinic, as they can all check the position and talk to you about the different contraceptives.
