I’m struggling to work out what’s going on with my symptoms as they seem to be possible for all of the above!
I had a total hysterectomy (kept my ovaries) on 13th March, my last Prostap injection two weeks before that and I’m working my way off 240mg of codeine. I get the worst hot sweats and my brain is so foggy and forgetful and I’ve got no idea which of those could be causing it.
Has anyone experienced long-lasting Prostap effects? I was on HRT but I’m off that now. It’s been six weeks since my last injection.
Has anyone experienced the menopause straight after a total hysterectomy? I know there’s an increased risk that it’ll happen in the next 5 years but it didn’t have to be immediately as I kept my ovaries.
So confused.
Thanks,
Vicky

It sounds like maybe you’ve run out of oestrogen from the HRT before your ovaries have been able to produce enough themselves yet post-Prostap, as a guess. It took me 3 or 4 months to have a period after the last one-month Prostap dose.
Hi I had a full hysterectomy and both ovaries removed i went straight into menopause I did not have HRT, they say keeping the ovaries will cause hormones and pain ect , I have hot flushes most days some nights flushes, ect
I did not experience menopause symptoms soon although recently, after 4 years post-hyst, it is more now - sudden hot flashes, mostly middle of the night for me. I am not on any medication. Still hoping my ovaries will work well and so far, yearly check up gives good result.
If you have not, try a schedule of life style change - 8 hours sleep (night time), lots of greens to a type of meat per meal. Plenty of water and regular exercise. It does help me keep the symptoms minimum though it could be personal-thing too. Yet, I find no harm in trying as it should be a healthier lifestyle too in the long run.
